No, masks are needed for the health care professionals. Not only are most masks useless against a 0.3 micrometer virus, the ones that block 95% (N95, so 5% of particles still reach you) need proper fitting and proper attachment to the face to have their 95% particle reduction ability. Even a small breach of the sealing ok the face renders them useless and most people have no idea how to wear them and will just be taking stock from doctors and nurses who do.
