All the while many states that are trying to do something about it are equally flatfooted because all of their responses have been reactionary with absolutely nothing proactive about them. Only NOW are schools closed and businesses shutdown and only slightly later have bills and payments been frozen. With our number of deaths and cases along with the death rate we're literally on par to becoming Italy in a few weeks as our numbers are doubling every few days.

Ever still people are being denied a test, their employers are fucking with their pay and they're without a paddle because the US has no worker rights.

It actively did, there was so little information purely based on that ignorance. There have been multiple reports of CDC experts warning him about there being a potential outbreak in the US as early as mid january and he didn't want to mobilize anything to help prevent or do anything about it. Only a month later did he finally close the borders and ban flights to afflicted nations but it was too late as dozens of cases already made landfall in the US. That level of ignorance has put a massive damper on the economy reversing all progress made since before the 2008 recession.
