The US was one of the first countries to close off from China. The US is almost 6 times larger population wise, and 33 times larger in area. The US has a much smaller population density. Italians wish that they could go back in time and do certain things. Well, the US is behind Italy, we are back in time, and we are and have already been doing the things they wish they did, (including closing Europe off).
The US has about 60 deaths, 23 of which are from one unfortunate elderly nursing home. Italy has 1,441 deaths. The US is not going to become another Italy, it just doesn't work that way.
