What the actual fuck is this system of mathematics

>NYC curriculum
big surprise right there
>For example if you want to solve 121-93 quickly, you add seven to both giving you 128-100=28 which is much quicker to calculate. (or into 120-92=28)
>A kid that is talented at math would intuitively simplify 121-93 into that automatically inside his head. Common Core is a bad attempt at trying to transfer this ability into the heads of black children. Common Core tries to teach them things that they do not understand.

The mathematics that white people just automatically do in their head, which darker people don't do in their heads, and this is an attempt to write out that mental ability.

These must be doctored.
No fucking way is this the shit children are being taught today.

Tell me it's a fucking joke anons.

Forget kids shooting up schools, it should be the parents doing it.

No it’s real. It’s to try to be hip to the kids.

I don't think you understand the complaint. Maybe you should be enrolled in these classes. Your intellect certainly matches up.

>make is confusing as possible with nitpicking idiot details to make cheating on work harder
Kids even into highschool often just have one person do the assignment in their group of four on rotation, and even then the person might just look at someone else's. Then they "cram" before the test because they haven't looked at any of the work. If this is hard to believe because you weren't in the idiot preppy group of friends then don't consider yourself unfortunate.
>make is confusing as possible with nitpicking idiot details to drag down the average grades of everyone to make race data look better
Sinister, but on the bureaucratic level this was implemented on, this was likely their greatest concern.
>make is confusing as possible with nitpicking idiot details to make people suffer and make children stupider
In this case the leaders of the childrens' educators are simply evil, and some oligarchs want a more easily controlled populace that is used to illogical, contrived and overlong solutions to what a clear and calculated mind can discern in seconds. If the quick-thinking traits for potential proteges are being oppressed and subdued in order to accomplish what has been pushed in schools, then it's population control. The ability to shovel mountains of paper busywork seemed like the methodology twelve years ago, guess it's gotten worse.

>Common Core is a bad attempt at trying to transfer this ability into the heads of black children
Its NOT supposed to uplift niggers on par with asians or whites. It supposed to make asians and whites as dumb as niggers. It literally does what its supposed to.

You know a lot of these common core "strategies" are things some people intrinsically do to solve the problems.
26 + 17 = 42 for example, I'll approach it as 30 + 13 = 43, just because it feels easier to count (this is basically how they're referring to solve it with common core, just with extra steps.)
Arithmetic is hard enough at that age, having to write out steps to justify your answer to problems seems a bit silly. Save having to write proofs for high school and college.

26 + 17 = 43
30 + 13 = 43

this is their solution to help sub 90 IQ people do math?

the real solution is to admit that different races do not mix. To each their own.

Niggers cannot into math

Attached: Students see rise in SAT scores.jpg (768x1024, 117.52K)

Yes, but I bet that the teacher's guide shows it only one way and that's how they graded it because a lot of teachers are idiots.

This is why quizzs and tests exist... In my college level math classes homework counts for 5% of the grade, the rest is in class quizzes and tests.
If you're a math major typically the tests are curved so you can expect half the class to get a 'C' and the rest either fail or get an 'A'.
Pop-quizzes used to be a staple in elementary schools... What changed?

This shit is such fucking cancer that it even started getting into my head to do math this way. It's fucking corrosive.

Too difficult for Pearson and their ilk to grade. One way is right for a given problem, all other methods are wrong.

Hooray for New Math
New-hoo-hoo Math
It won't do you a bit of good to review Math
It's so simple
So very simple
That only a child can do it!

For those confused about this- That is intentional
The idea is to make it impossible to do math quickly, that way the 'slow' children can keep up with those who aren't braindamaged
It also means the smart kids (Read: Most whites) can not do better at math than the others, thus forcing 'equality'

Christopher Columbus turns out to be a vile black man that trampled on the rights of poor white natives :(

Remember trump said he would get rid of common core.

It's basically counting fingers, but since you don't have 100+ fingers you count in some arbitrary increments that make it more dependent on short term memory. Probably works for like 5 people so of course they rigidly push it on everyone else.

If your state and school receive federal funding, then as a teacher you are held to these standards and the final assessments with the state exams and the like grade the same way, so if you don't want to get shitcanned you have to force the students to use one method for a given question or it's wrong too.

It's an abomination courtesy of the Obama administration, basically designed to transform what should be a UDL approach to teaching to a crab mentality where learning a million different methods confuses your average students and drags them closer to the level of the lower ones. Your brightest students would have learned these methods either was as an approach to number sense and coast fine.

I mean, I get that. Sometimes I'll think
>26+17=?
>round up to 30, that means adding 4 to the 26 and subtracting 4 from 17 making the problem 30+13 which is easy to see the 43
But the way they're trying to explain it seems convoluted

>under the old system, it was hard to compare students in different states. Until now, each state set its own standards for what students should understand at each grade level, and each state had a different definition for what it meant to be "proficient" in math and reading.
So this
but unironically.
vox.com/2014/10/7/18088680/common-core

Please don't tell me they call equations "number sentences"

Attached: 6654654456.jpg (300x300, 46.62K)

Both methods are valid but the common core is convoluted as fuck. A simple subtraction should not require that many steps & using addition as well.
Show me a kid who naturally thinks like that.
Even autist weird-wired screwballs don't NATURALLY think like that.

>But the way they're trying to explain it seems convoluted

26 + 17 = (20 + 6) + (10 + 7) = (20 + 10) + (6 + 7) = 30 + 13 = 43

And I'm talking about the problem in OP post
