I guess Amahara ain't stupid. My bet is that he saw that this was his moment in the spotlight. A smart man can see that he is gonna get an anime, and knows that he could very easily become irrelevant in a few years. So best use those years of boost he got, to put out more chapters and hopefully get another season. If we go by pic related, then at the minimum, 8-10 more chapters are needed to make season 2 happen. If this ain't a fluke, and he has upped the speed of release, then 8-10 chapters are not that far away.

Personally I think this would work better as the start of a season 2 layout

1 - Season two opens with the wedding. That's two chapters.
2 - Then they go to the beast road on the way back. Also the aquarium in the same episode.
3 - The magic crystal porno auction could fill up an entire episode, but I doubt they'd do that since they passed up similar opportunities in season 1. So they'd probably bump up mimics to be the first half of this episode.

That's because in season 1, they didn't have the confidence to do that yet. Season 1's usually play it safe, while later seasons chill out a bit. I mean they already threw in a completely new segment, that coincidentally also had to do with magic crystal porno. Now that they get an entire magic crystal porno segment, they have carte blanche to show some of their anime original scenes.

The doujin is canon to the manga. It just takes the manga a while to get to the doujin content and it's left "off screen".
So you get more silliness and less sex, but since the sex scenes that you see in the doujin still happen to the characters, it doesn't feel like you're missing out.

But would they fill up half of an episode's worth of content with it?
It really depends on the sort of budget they'd get since I feel like they wouldn't blow the budget on stuff that wasn't in the manga or being expanded from the manga.
