Yes he was right.

Yes. This is why Triggershit and Gainiggers are the worst cancer anime has ever seen.

I think it's ironic, given how shallow Totoro as a film is. It really shows that Miyazaki has never been a father himself. That he prefered locking himself up in the cellar over raising his son. It's a such a superficial depiction of juvenile behavior, an autist could do a better job writing believable characters. We really is not in a position to criticise other people for their depiction of human emotion. Wind Rises is another example of melodramatic trash, utterly detached from real human interaction.

based

Incredibly true and based. The protagonist is more than likely a cookie-cutter, tip of the bell curve, Japanese young adult who for some reason gets every thots pussy wet within a five mile radius. The only difference is that the protagonist has some sort of fantasy power as a means of creating the loser otaku power fantasy. This is done for the purpose of selling their product to the otaku. The other characters are shallow archetypes and are only meant for the sole purpose of acting as clay for the protagonist to mold into something beneficial to him. These characters are plot devices, not people. This is all for the self-insert otaku power fantasy.

>It's a such a superficial depiction of juvenile behavior, an autist could do a better job writing believable characters.
You're wrong.

But i can't fap to real people

I blame Anno and Kawamori for allowing this to happen.

Yes. Based.

To a degree, yes.
But on the other side, Miyazaki couldn't come up with a response to this problem, he never suggests a solution.

He is wrong. Let creators do whatevr the fuck they want.
Miyazaki is great buddy with Hideaki Anno, the king of Otakus, proof that this infamous declaration is to be taken with a pinch of salt

All will be well, Ghibli shill. Go re-release your shitty films cause of how much of a sore loser you are. Takahata handles human themes significantly than Miyazaki does in his popcorn flicks. The latter's films have about as much emotional depth and behavioral accuracy as your average harem show. That's why people flock so much to them. They are melodramatic, unrealistic, tropey trash.

reading this was embarrassing

He has yet to be wrong.

>Let creators do whatevr the fuck they want
You're wrong. Creators don't do whatever they want, they do whatever sells. The creators that get any degree of popularity are selected by the publishers and producers on the criteria of "do his works sell and how well do they sell".
They basically have grown a generation of people with no taste and anime culture will essentially begin eating its tail, if it hasn't begun doing it already.
>Hideaki Anno, the king of Otakus,
Anno is a notorious slave of his producers. He does what sells, not what he would like to do.

Yas Forums hated him because he spoke the truth

Yes. The people who run the anime industry are now a mix of old breed japanese businessmen or people who were fans of the visionaries that created the anime industry who lack all their talent and can only make souless derivative works.

He is the red pill

To a degree, but he is exaggerating when he says that the problem is that the industry is just a bunch of shut-ins. That's not really the problem. The problem with otaku isn't really just that they are these massive autists that can't relate to people, it's that old anime used to be inspired by things other than anime. Old shows were inspired by classic movies and books, etc.

Today's anime is just inspired by other japanese anime from a few years back, so they all look the same. Every generation is less creative because they are just repeating the same plot lines and character archetypes with minimal variation every year now.

Nah buddy. You cannot watch Daicon III & IV and then say Anno does not love otaku culture. Even though he is "just" co director, this shit is a love letter for all that makes Otaku culture.

oh yes, punish me more master, and tell me more how wrong I am

>You cannot watch Daicon III & IV and then say Anno does not love otaku culture
Daicon animation was made out of pure enthousiasm. and everything that was made after Eva is just commercial stuff.
I'm not saying that Anno is not an otaku, I'm saying that he is not free to do whatever does not sell to otakus, he's not free to experiment, while his another friend Ikuhara is always struggling to find a studio willing to invest money in his projects.

He should stop blaming otaku, they are the only ones willing to slave away in this shit industry. If this were up to normies, this industry would not exist anymore

Who cares about otaku nips?
Japan now denpends of Chinks bucks.

Yes but despite being in place to fix the problem he doesn't do anything about it.

I guess that means he spent a lot of time observing 11 year old girls to make his movies then, lol. I don't have anything against hebephilia but spare me the indignation you old cunt

Yes, he accurately characterizes everything that's wrong with modern anime.

a whole lot of anime is low-effort pandering. their primary concern is checking-off a bunch of trope boxes to spit out formulaic shit based on researched trends. theres very few risks and originality is not valued. this problem is by no means unique to anime, but its is particularly transparent there.

Yes that's why they're so good at making anime.

>[medium] suffers because the industry is full of [passionate fans who support the medium]
no, he's just being cynical and misanthropic as always

>Ghibli shill
>Takahata
Takahata is Ghibli.

Yeah, those damn Otaku always making anime and movies about young, growing girls. Totally creepy.

Threadly reminder

Absolutely. Just go look at any manga or anime site. Just go look at 90% of the catalog. Even before everything got swamped in isekai shit it was all derivative pandering shit. Barely any of them even try to create something special like Miyazaki. Most animators and manga artists are just happy with the big tits, cute girls, fight tournament generic crap.

To some extent, they are just different creative modes. I think this is even more apparent in video games (probably because its a younger medium) where dinosaurs like Miyamoto had a lot of non-video game inspiration, which allowed him to create novel games. The people growing up playing these games are using different creative modes to iterate on these original ideas, but the end results are (in my opinion) generally much better than the original, because the people making the newer games are better at thinking about game design than someone who grew up playing with rocks and sticks.

Because their is none. Art is art. Every medium is eventually filled up with commercial shit as the people with the money to fund these endeavors couldn't give a rats ass about artistic integrity.

>Creators don't do whatever they want, they do whatever sells.
This. The creators that can actually do whatever they want are the 1 in a million geniuses who's every doodle becomes gold. Everyone else has to either sell his soul or starve.

Consider this: There are no otakus supporting or driving animated content in America, and look how their animation industry turned out.

If there's a problem, there should be a solution. And commercialisation of art is, indeed, a problem.

People still fall for this shit?
