Why do I like pre-timeskip one piece more than post-timeskip?

Focus on main characters instead of running around with dozens of badly-developed strangers.

Because you were younger pre-timeskip, which clouded your judgement, as does nostalgia now. The timeskip introduced a break in the narrative that allowed you to separate what came after from what came before, and see that newer stuff without nostalgia goggles. You see pre-timeskip as the child you were when you first saw it and you see post-timeskip as the adult you are now.

Well, in that case, I don't know why you'd like one more than the other. They are pretty damn similar.

post-timeskip he looks like a toy soldier for giants
