Can you tell an artists gender from their art style?

does anyone else feel a little bit cheated when they find the artist of some cutesy moe shit is some middle aged dude?

I feel like more artists have a "feminine" or "masculine" feeling to them, but a lot of the time it's hard to pinpoint exactly what it is. Fashion is definitely a big one though, female artists usually give their characters more fashionable/well thought out outfits, hairstyles and accessories, while male artists usually just slap on a short skirt and as many unnecessary hair decs as possible for their female characters and make their male ones incredibly plain.

Though some artists have a pretty ambiguous style, I still have no idea if pic related's artist is a guy or girl

For me it was the way she drew the male characters, tbqh. Yuu-kun, basically.

Yeah, this for example was definitely drawn by a woman.

how do you know?

Men tend to draw ugly males, women tend to draw pretty guys

I just know Fei is a woman.

Fei is confirmed a Taiwanese woman.

Has anyone reviewed to see if shotacon is more prevalent among male or female artists? And I guess Lolicon too while we're at it?

but how do you know from the drawing?
