Yukino pretty much said she didn't like to be confessed to, based on her past experiences in elementary/middle school. Hachiman basically said to her that he will never confess to anyone or fall in love, for that's a limited right granted to the winners. Yukino thought Hachiman betrayed her expectations of him, thought that he too despised superficial distance.

This is what I never get from romcoms. The best part is the teasing and never the end. And the characters don't need to end together. I didn't read it because I wanted him to get one of the girls, I read it because I wanted to see his value as a human being seen by other people that were making pre-established notions of him
