At least in WSJ and in battle shonen I can't think of that many clean slate protagonists. From the top of my head
Goku killed people (RR), Kenshiro did by default, don't remember if Ryo Saeba was ever close to killing someone but wouldn't surprise me, Dark Schneider killed tons of people, killing people was Kenshin's backstory
The only ones that stick out are the big 3, with their disney fake out deaths
