Do you think shounen protagonists should be willing to kill people? If so, when? And should the do it without hesitation or remorse, or feel bad about it later?
Do you think shounen protagonists should be willing to kill people? If so, when...
Why the fuck does shonenfag creams at the thought of their mc crossing the line. Fuck me the fanfic i read of deku is fucking embarassing. Fucking hell
the mc of kimetsu no yaiba has been killing people all the time and not the children kinda way
I really couldn't care less about battle shonen.
yes no more
>muh if you kille the bad guy you become like him
isekay is why webtoon are better than manga.
japanese are cucks and dream to escape from their shit by dying and ressurrect in a world where they arent useless.
instead koreans are chads dream of hardworking, become fucking overpower and take revange of everyone hurt them.
nah, fuck humans. Bunch of self serving cunts who would never shed a tear for anybody
What pairing was Deku in in the fic?
Careful with that edge, user
Its not edgy to hate people.
I would assume its because there's inherent drama in the concept.
Killing another sentient person is typically a concept that is both inherently taboo and restricted to adults. The concept of killing makes you a man, a thug or morally inferior or whatever. For a child or teenager to kill someone intentionally typically means they are at a stage where they can't afford to hold on to their ostensibly "childish" ideals or they cannot remain childish. I can certainly see where the appeals lies IF DONE WELL. In your example, for someone like Deku who wholeheartedly believes in All Might's ideal of saving everyone with a smile, killing someone some be a implicit admission on his part that beautiful ideal he fought for is just a dream and he can no longer afford to be a child. Honestly, I don't want someone like Izuku to lose his optimism or stop striving to be someone who sincerely wants to help everyone he can but at the same time I want to see how far he is willing follow those ideals.
Yes.
Fuck shieldnigger and similar faggots.
>Bullying the newbie at the adventurer's guild scene.
>Newbie kills them instantly
>Guards come to arrest hero
>Kill the guards for siding with evil
It's perfect.
And yet here you are, conversing with them.
I don't know why people like HxH so much, specially the Chimera ant arc. As soon as it's over, they undo everything that could have made it special. Gon's descent into darkness amounted to nothing, Killua just used some deus ex machina to bring him back to normal with zero repercussion. The catalyst for Gon's arc, Kite's death, was also reverted. It meant NOTHING. Gon didn't even get mentally scarred or anything. It was so dumb...
yes it is you underage retard
Fuck off nigger faggot
How about this: I want to read stories that explore every possible scenario instead of insisting each story in category X should only contain Y.
There's tons of shonen manga where the protagonist kill people. Like, the majority even.
>There's tons of shonen manga where the protagonist kill people.
Sure.
>Like, the majority even.
Definitely not, it's the opposite.
At least in WSJ and in battle shonen I can't think of that many clean slate protagonists. From the top of my head
Goku killed people (RR), Kenshiro did by default, don't remember if Ryo Saeba was ever close to killing someone but wouldn't surprise me, Dark Schneider killed tons of people, killing people was Kenshin's backstory
The only ones that stick out are the big 3, with their disney fake out deaths
Goku isn't even a good example since he let many people go that he should have killed. Hell how many times did he give a senzu bean to the bad guys?
he still killed people though, he tore through the Red Ribbon base
not that death means much in DB to begin with, anyway.
Should a distinction be made between killing random cannon fodder and killing a person?
You are technically correct, but you are still kind of missing the point. He doesn't kill the people who need killing, and even sometimes helps them instead of killing them. It's really hard to name a protag who is more retarded just off the top of my head.
true, it's just an above average shonen that gets a bit dark and ambitious for one arc
I liked it for what it is but the people memeing it as some deep masterpiece are doing it a disservice
>He doesn't kill the people who need killing
Is that the point of the OP? Because it doesn't sound like it.
Should protagonists kill or not?
I don't want to offend you or anything, but this isn't about making a judgement call whether some of them deserved it more or less. I don't even disagree with you that he should've killed some of them. But that is besides the point in this topic, don't you think?
For me, Tanjiro's ablity to be sympathetic towards some demons while never once become being a whiny fucking pussy about killing/attacking people when he needs to is honestly most realistic and interesting way deal with this level of conflict. Infact i quite dislike how Togashit built Gon up to become this truely abhorrent person only to walk all of that shit back in the following arc and I didn't like how Kurapika conveniently ran out of steam after killing only two spiders and has since shifted his goal more towards retrieving the scarlet eyes for the longest time. I truly dislike that HxH constantly flirts with ideas but rarely truly committing to any of them.
yes
being willing to kill people unironically makes them more relatable
It's the spirit of the topic though. Letting someone who should be killed live is the real problem. It's not like the problem here is that there are not enough psychopath MCs.
>Do you think shounen protagonists should be willing to kill people?
Like Kenshiro did in the 1980s?
>Do you think shounen protagonists should be willing to kill people?
It depends on the story, and I suppose, after that it depends on the character, and then after that, I suppose it depends on the context.
There are a lot of factors that go into deciding something like that. But if the MC is supposed to be a paragon of sorts, I can understand why the writer and the audience may want them to refrain from taking a life. Some would argue that superheroes shouldn't kill, so I guess it's the same for these types of Shonen MCs.
>Letting someone who should be killed live is the real problem.
True, but it can also serve as an interesting starting point for a manga. Goku being smart would have ruined DB and made it fucking boring if he actually always did the smart thing and killed his foes instead of helping them.
We would also have lost many great characters like Picollo and Vegeta.
>an interesting starting point
Yeah I totally agree. If you have the hero refuse to kill someone, and then that results in someone they love getting killed and then they reconsider and change, that's great character development and great writing.
If Goku actually learned from his mistakes DB would have been a way better story, but as it is he is one of the biggest retards of all time.
>the fanfic i read of deku is fucking embarassing
Which one?
Really it makes him a pretty big Mary Sue, since he can be the biggest retard ever and it still doesn't matter, because everything still works out just fine with no consequences.
I actually enjoy the Yorknew City arc quite a bit too. Also, Genthru and Chrollo are cool.
If you kill your enemies, you win.
Koreans are still virgins compared to the chineese.
The repercussion is that he cannot use nen.
>Do you think shounen protagonists should be willing to kill people?
Yup. Naruto killing Sasuke would've been the best way to end that manga but instead it never redeemed itself
>I wait for the opportunity to use the same image and copypasta over and over again
Everyone ignores that Gotoh and a bunch of other people died so Alluka could get to Gon, and also Gon and Killua separating
Yes, battle anime is fucking boring if there isn't any real danger
How about some psychological and emotional repercussions too?
Too based to care about gay feelings.
His whole arc in chimera ant was ''gay feelings''
>Do you think shounen protagonists should be willing to kill people?
Yes.
>If so, when?
Often.
> And should the do it without hesitation or remorse
Yes.
>or feel bad about it later?
No.
Why is it that female shounen protagonists tend to be more bloodthirsty than male shounen protagonists?
Nobody gives Giorno any credit for murdering all his opponents.
>inb4 JoJo's a seinen
only since part 7, all the parts before it were shonen
>Why is it that female shounen protagonists tend to be more bloodthirsty than male shounen protagonists?
name one
No one cares because that is a gay show for literal homosexual faggots and fujos. Seriously just look at what that faggot is wearing, also kill yourself.
>assmad huntard detected
>closeted faggot in denial
>name one
Elle Ragu
Well the characters we follow are criminals, hardly anyone there has a goal or ideal that could be considered "heroic" and basically no one shows any real aversion to killing or even torturing people, fucking amazing that segment was. Killing enemies in Part 5 has basically the same effect as "retiring" people in Part 3.
When did Tanjirou kill people? He killed demons and I don't consider them people.
Every story is different, there's no need to group them by labels in which readers judge what each of them should accommodate.
>there's no need to group them by labels
>Feel like reading some fantasy
>Guess I'll just start reading random stories until I finally find one
>Nope, scifi again, fuck
Yeah you are retarded
>Guess I'll just start reading random stories until I finally find one
And you call others retarded...
They should kill bad guys, yes.
The western comic's not kill policy is lame and very unfilfilling.
Every mythological heroes kill shit.
Correct, you are retarded.
Killing villains is pretty meh.
