Its simply not how life works, there are Tomokos IRL too, and this kind of shit is easily pushed into adulthood. It happens so fast you don't even realize it. It just how life works, adulthood comes with a JCB loaded with problems dumping everything on your neck. Even in school if you weren't on good terms from the start this kind of shit that suddenly everyone is interested in you literally never happens, especially not if you are the 'ghost' type. You'll more likely end up with others who are like you, like Tomoko's first friend was before her change. Its also why you see the outcasts, the fat guys, the nerds and alike hanging with each other, while the big shots are a completely different group.
The Stacy will never fucking even bother to look at Becky, unless its bullying.

The "yandere harem" is just a bad joke anons who still care about the story made up, to cope with how absurd it got. Currently, "only" one or two girls are interested in her sexually. But it is undeniable that she became the center of attention because she is so "interesting", while in the past no matter what weird thing she did, her presence remained largely ignored.
