What's a profitable skill that can be learned within a few months?

How and why

Writing for people online - ads , service / product descriptions etc..

Leatherworking. You can make custom shit for thots or LARPers all the same.

I'm a devops engineer, don't get certs. Just do side projects. Everyone in the industry is chill af and knows that this job rocks, just be a cool dude and know CI/CD, containerization, and basic windows administration to start

What does it take to get into? What are startup cost?

Seems like it'd be a good profitable hobby

>What does it take to get into?
Preferably arms/armor/HEMA autism, and talent with working with your hands.
>What are startup cost?
Depends on the project size. You could start with making knife sheaths for a local bladesmith or something, or jump straight to custom orders or Etsy. You'll probably have to have a portfolio first, though, so customers can get an idea of what they can expect from you.

I just spent $100 on materials and tools to make lamellar armor like pic related. Will probably have to drop a bit more on straps and such when I get to it, but if you get good at making things like these, you can sell them for 3-4 times material cost. Just remember they take a lot of time to make.

Sounds interesting, any resources to get started with and learn the trade?

Instructables probably has a ton. Otherwise ask /diy/, I think they have leatherworking threads there regularly.

seems like certs are needed just to get passed HR. and i find it pretty fun learning even though i already know a lot of this stuff, still some little technical stuff i'm picking up.
