Is the University of Chicago elite?

>implying the school you go to matters to anyone past your first position out of college

I work in Toronto so I come across a good number of people from Chicago.

First, congrats on your acceptance - work hard to keep your prospects open regardless of your major. Undergrad is mostly about effort and time management skills. It takes a minimal amount of both to set yourself apart from the rest.

Second, no, this is not a ticket to the ruling class. It will give you a decent shot at servicing the ruling class, if you're into that.

My impression is that people from Chicago work harder than people from literally any other major city in America, including New Yorkers. I don't know why that is, but it's fucked up. It seems like half of Chicago works past midnight on any given day of the week.

The single smartest thing you could do at a school like this is to seek out a billionaire's daughter and marry rich. It's doable, much easier than you think, and will make the rest of your life better in every way imaginable.

Find her, user, she's waiting for you.

basketball americans yu a funny mofo

kek. she at least come out with a posh social circle / boyfriend?

This. Columbia user here. You're just going to a shittier Columbia.

>I would much rather go to Dartmouth than Uchicago for econ because Dartmouths undergraduate econ is unironically their best field and Dartmouth is 100000x better for social fun, even though it still pales in comparison to some other schools being that its in the middle of nowhere.
True. Dartmouth has a great Wall Street presence, punches really above its belt there

The alternative is leaving the building, which isn't recommended in winter.

i dont believe in program rankings really because they so poorly correlate to mid career earnings and success. dartmouth program rankings are a bit lower than the rest, but despite it all it's still an ivy and ivies look out for ivies. everyone at dartmouth seems so fanatically obsessed with preserving their green pride and furthering the dmouth agenda and they hire eachother out the ass as a result. unironically a great place with a great education, their program rankings suffer due to theri lack of graduate focus. i got in to dartmouth and was heavily debating between it and stanford .I think I chose right though.

columbia seems a bit soulless to me.

so that's what people really mean when they stress "networking"

Why the fuck do you keep posting this, OP?
