True Detective

Loved season 1 but found the ending underwhelming, seemed like it was building up to something bigger.
About to start season 2 now, what am I in for? Opinions seem pretty divided.

It’s not the same. So skip it and go to s3. It’s the same style as s1.

Eh, it's only 8 episodes and it's not like I have anything better to do, quarantine and all. Besides, I doubt it's that bad. Isn't the writer the same as season 1?

dont even waste your time with s2 and s3 lol theyre pure trash

It's kino and the best season of the show

Caspere knew this.

S2 is a cliche detective show dialed to 11. Everyone is over-the-top, especially Vince Vaughn with his terrible metaphors. It's a good watch, but if you're expecting the mystique that defined S1 you will be sorely dissapointed.

S3 is a good ride, and the acting is top notch, but its ending is so underwhelming. Part of the interest is the diced up timeline told from the perspective of a person suffering from dementia. If this season aired it scenes in chronological order, it would have been mediocre.

Season two is just of unique taste I think, more disliked it then liked it. I myself loved it, S1 was best obviously and S2 can be a bit slow but the last few episodes made it for me.

Just watch it, same writer but it was rushed after the successful of the first season

>If this season aired it scenes in chronological order, it would have been mediocre.
Oh god.. I don't want to watch shit like that for a while. The whole of Westworld turned me off to that kind of connect the dots timeline.

vinceposting was the best Yas Forums meme of the past 5 years. only lotr tax+kang posting comes close.

You wanna know what it's like? Imagine being born at the bottom of a mountain. Cold and all alone. You got nowhere to go but up. You start climbing and you find a few people along the way. You're not alone anymore and you feel like you're making progress. Then you get to the summit but only then do you see life for what it truly is. You're on the wrong fucking mountain and the mountain you're standing on? It's an active volcano. Caspere knew this

Reminder that the only reason Caspere posting is less popular than Baneposting is because Caspere posting actually requires a relatively high IQ.

The problem with season 2 is that the characters aren't true detectives. They do some detective work, but it's only skin-deep. The detectives in season 1 and season 3 are detectives beneath their flesh, in their heart of hearts, down to their very bones. That's what makes their detectiveness so true.

shut the fuck up with your retarded reddit attempts at humor

Tax posting is shit.

I got bored and stopped watching season 2. Vince is a bad actor.

you're shit cocksucker

What humor? That young kid isn't a detective. That crime boss isn't a detective. Who are these people, and why are they on a show called True Detective?

You know Ray, they say the devil's in the details. So doesn't that mean that studying the bible won't help you out? That's why I'm the best goddamn christian there is. I can't even read.

He's right, I'm sorry, user.

Season 2 was my favorite. It had the better plot.

Both season 1-2 are just average stories boosted by star power though.

Season 3 is bad other than Dorff's performance.

>Damaged Rachel McAdams

>You know Ray, they say that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Well consider me the garbage man, because it doesn’t make a difference to me anymore.
>Caspere knew this.

Season 2 has a lot of gold. Farrell ripping into his fat ginger son constantly.

Vince Vaughn giving a solid performance.

McAdams being hot as fuck.

Say what you want about season 2 but frankposting is Yas Forums's finest meme

S2 is the best season

I wouldn't recommend it, but if you don't have anything else to watch, or you just like Colin Farrell/Vince Vaughn/Rachel McAdam's ass, it's decent. It's filled with early symbolism and references that make you think there's some sort of deep, interesting, well though out story at work (which S1 did a good job of), but in the end it's one of the most weak unsatisfying finales to a show I've ever seen, with all of the villains/culprits being the obvious villains/culprits from the start, the B-movie "women escape while the men die" cliche, and with all of the symbolism throughout earlier episodes being completely fucking irrelevant to the story. The only plot twist was that there was no plot twist.

Don't worry S3 isn't like that at all. It's very linear. There's a present timeline where the MC is old, and then only two other timelines that it cuts between from when he's like 30 and the other one he's like 50. That one guy who said you could tell it chronologically is an idiot, it has unreliable aspects that only make any sense if its the memory of the current version of the MC.

Frankposting genuinely made me laugh, especially when you read one to yourself in that dramatic Vince Vaughn delivery

You're right they aren't detectives. If you just ignore the title, though, it's a great show. Just because you didn't understand where the symbolism went it doesn't mean it was irrelevant. The bardo stuff is fully resolved by the ending, and so are the emotional narratives of every character (ofc that's tied in to the bardo angle)

Yeah, they put so much thought and effort into the symbolism of season 2.

Wait, what? They don't even know the difference between Athena and Aphrodite? Oh, jeez...

I liked gaycops storyline

The ending scene of S2 with the two women giving the evidence over to an at that point unseen character got me so fucking hyped it was going to be Rust and Harrelson and that S3 would deep dive into the eyes wide shut shit they kept teasing at. I truly believe that was the plan and then execs fucked it all up.

And you don't know the difference between the Greek pantheon and Tibetan Buddhism. Weird.
