What are some horror movies you would show someone with a low threshold for fear? I've already shown this particular person a number of movies with varying levels of success.
Movies that scared the shit out of her
>Shutter (thai)
>Paranormal activity
>Ouija: Origin of Evil
Movies that were close but no cigar
>The Descent
>Alien
>It Follows
Movies that weren't effective at all
>Event Horizon (both thought it was kinda trash)
>Rec (enjoyed the movie but wasn't frightened by it)
>Evil Dead (original version, see above)
This person isn't really a film buff so don't come at me with any of high-brow smart horror shit because it won't work. Something designed to instill visceral fear into our dumb monkey brains will work better

Climax fucked me up

Carved?
This one sounds promising from what I read but the clips I've seens lead me to think think it's too humorous. Raimi being the director also makes me hesitate, no offense to the guy. Seeing another user rec it gives me a little hope so I think I'll give it a try.
Seems interesting. The person I'm trying to frighten usually responds best to ghost/paranormal by-the-numbers shit but I like the concept of a party being drugged and going apeshit.
Haute Tension
The Wailing
Huh, the premise sounds pretty neat but I've been burned by j-horror one to many times.
>Seeing another user rec it gives me a little hope so I think I'll give it a try.
It's not a straight horror film and only a couple of scenes are scary. You should watch it anyway because it's very entertaining.
Takashi Miike is fucking great
Is the goal to traumatize them or just spook them?
It only seems campy to people who've seen a shit ton of horror movies. It'll scare the shit out of someone who's easily scared. Even I was truly scared at parts.
An American Haunting
if a person doesn't like horror movies they will rationalize it however they want, you can't win. plus, nobody wants to get scared right now anyway, real life is scarier than any movie
To answer your question, something like Martyrs is too far.
No, certain horror movies work for this person, some don't. If you read my original post you'd know that.
I conf know, you mentioned they have a low threshold for fear, shouldn’t any horror movie work then?
Sinister could work
Yeah, but they have to be very visceral and "scare" oriented. Slow-burns and psychological horrors usually miss the mark.
Good suggestion, but we've seen it. Definitely worked well though.
The Burning? It’s a good slasher
The Descent and its direct sequel The Descent: Part 2 are great. I don't even enjoy horror and I found them to be engaging adventures with just enough thrill to make hair stand on end. Just a good couple of films period. I first watched them together on early days Twitch with some Yas Forums bros. Great flicks to watch together with people and have a good time.
The Exorcist
I already mentioned that we saw the first film. Good flick that I enjoyed, but she didn't appreciate it like I did.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre is still good for being so unsettling. Carrie is good too.
