I was going to host a watch party for Howl's Moving Castle and Porco Rosso, but I'm having a lot of trouble finding a version of either movie that has Japanese VAs with English subs. All the versions I can find are either unsubbed, or English dubs. Is there a specific version that you would recommend for me to check out?

I've only seen the one about the ghost bathhouse, so yesterday when user made a thread about it, I said I'd stream some that I hadn't seen if anyone wanted to watch them with me, and a couple of anons said they'd like to do that.

Why not just watch the English dub? Based Dubsman AND Billy Crystal. I never watch the original jap dubs of Ghibli films because the Japanese can't voice act for shit. Maybe something is lost in translation but I always find then awful.

The dubs are solid. Porco Rosso in particular is really good. That and for a first time viewing I recommend the dub so you can spend more time on the visuals instead of the subtitles. Then for rewatches go for sub and then you can argue about it online

I've seen Akira, Ninja Scroll, FotNS, and the one with the ghost bathhouse. Maybe a couple others, but those are the only ones I remember or enjoyed. Oh, and Samurai Champloo. That was pretty good.
