For me it was seeing Blade Runner 2049 in an empty IMAX theater
Best Film Experience?
Attack of the 50 foot woman in the Spokane county jail
For me it was seeing BR2049 with a woman 15 years my senior who held my hand for a little while towards the end of the movie and gave me her dirty panties before the movie started this was the last real date I have been on in a decade
Honestly, as a zoomer, seeing the first Raimi Spiderman movie with my dad, when spiderman was triumphantly swinging though Manhattan in the low afternoon golden sunlight. Had me utterly awestruck as a lil nibba. I try to remember this when I talk shit about the MCU, but it still really isn't the same with a bloated universe which demands such consistency.
For me, it was pretending this dishonest travesty of a movie shouldn't have been released on consoles.
it was your mom wasn't it
mine was empty too but not imax, still great but I envy you
seeing the lord of the rings trilogy right before christmas three years in a row with my dad.... i miss him
This, had to see it twice film left me in a trance
No I met her on craigslist
Probably this in IMAX 3D
TDK when it first came out
Dar Knight Rises.
Even if it's very memeable, it actual does a great job of evoking emotions and watching it at cinemas was incredible. Especially the part where Bruce escaped the pit, I just felt...empowered. it was weird, and great.
>watching Black Panther at the movies
>intense fighting scene between protag and antag
>slouch down my seat and yell, "YO, THIS NIGGA FINNA BOUTTA DABBED ON"
>everyone laughs
>black guy sucks his teeth and says, "You aight, white boy"
>Hear "He cute" from one of the girls
I still regret not accepting my crushes invite to see this movie.
Best is BR 2049 with my gf even though she was confused by the ending
to this day there are only 2 movies i ever paid to see twince in theatres
those movies are The Dark Knight and Blade Runner 2049
funny thing is BR 2049 isnt even that great of a sci fi film but the experience was just visually, audiably, emotionally captivating that I had to see it again, they dont make movies like that any more thats for sure
I'm very glad I got to see the plane scene in theaters before it became a meme.
T2 at the Cinesphere Ontario Place
I'm surprised by how many people are saying BR2049. I only watched it at home and I really like it, but I can't see how it tops 'best cinema experience' compared to, say, Interstellar (which I also watched at home but I thought to myself "this would've been awesome at cinemas").
Same here: I saw it at the local multiplex cinema because we don't have an IMAX anywhere within an hour drive, but I was the only person there (it had been out for a week or so and I went to a matinee because I'm a NEET with nothing better to do in the middle of the afternoon).
When I went back to see it a second time, though, there were probably a dozen people there, even though it was another matinee and it had been out for close to a month by then. I swear that half the reason it wasn't a box office success was that they didn't market it well at all, and it ended up drawing better late in its run due to word of mouth getting around and people seeing it multiple times.
That is some genuinely trashy shit. Respect
I've had two awesome experiences recently.
>Go see Three from Hell during those special previews
>Theater packed with Zombie fans
>Somehow place doesn't smell
>Everyone laughing and joking and chatting
>Second the movie starts pure silence
>Go see The Lighthouse
>Three guys dressed up in era appropriate sailor costumes
>Theater was 3/4 full for opening night
>Pure respect for the movie
>Seeing Paranormal Activity 3 on release
>Kind of enjoying the movie but enjoying the packed theater freaking the fuck out over it in terror
>Going and seeing any movie with my parents before they got sick
The movie theater will always hold a special place in my heart. We lived in such a small town it was really the only place to "go out". Even after I graduated college and moved out I would still go see movies on the weekend with my parents. They can't go out anymore (Mom is too frail) but every time I step into a theater I am filled with those warm memories and feelings.
>Only fond memories you have with your family is CONSOOOMING overpriced popcorn in a sticky theater
I truly feel bad for you
I saw BR2049 in an empty theater too. Shit was so cash.
Midsommar in a cinema while high as shit. It was a very exiting experience.
I was younger when those first few paranormal activity movies came out, my parents knew I was really into horror movies so they brought me. I also remember them being great theatre experiences due to how packed each one was and how much anxious anticipation and audience reaction there was. It’s kind of funny in retrospect, considering how stupid and gimmicky those movies are and how ill-fitted the overall concept seems for cinema. It worked surprisingly well
And then you woke up?
saw Annihilation in an empty theater. was kino
if you had ear plugs on to prevent listening to the crap plot, i'd believe you
based
The VVitch on a small screen at the end of an IMAX theater that's reserved for movies they know won't sell tickets. Movie started just minutes after I left the theater showing 10 Cloverfield Lane so I was already adrenalined up from that finale. There were only about six people in the theater all about 18 and we were calling out jokes during the beginning but got involuntarily shut up by how unexpectedly freaky that kino became (all of the ads made it look like typical modern horror crap so we didn't know what we were getting into). Most unforgettable feeling was when I started shivering during the movie and went to put on my huge puffy coat only to realize it was already on me. No other theater experience has had that level of atmosphere for me.
