That would honestly be seen as bad cosplay anywhere. Looks like medieval armor made in Walmart.

Italian Renaissance goes to Baghdad and Heroin powers economy.

Other way around, brainlet

In many ways it's the aesthetic opposite of Star Wars.

>no robots
>no aliens
>focus on one world

The story revolves around a drug called melange (aka spice) which grants longevity and precognition and is a necessary component for space travel. The drug can only be found in one planet (Dune) and there are various zany factions trying to get control of it. The trouble lies in the natives of Dune (the Sardaukar) who are extremely hardy and capable warriors as well as the hostile environment of the world itself. The story follows the son of one of the leaders of a minor faction as he fulfills a Sardaukar prophecy and becomes their leader, gaining control of Dune (and in later books, becoming a literal god).

>in the future, humanity uses magic spice to enhance the psychic abilities of navigators who guide ships through space
>this magic spice is only found on a desert planet populated with giant worms that try to kill anything that produces vibrations (machinery, or even just running through the desert)
>shields exist that block any attack except swords
>lasers cause nuclear explosions if they hit the shields
>duke leto is told by the empire to manage the desert planet
>he has a son paul, who is trained both by regular tutors and by members of the bene-gesserit, an all female group with special powers that manipulate the politics of the galaxy for the benefit of humanity
>secretly, paul is the result of a massive breeding program by the bene-gesserit, who plan to create a messiah who will be the first male member of their group
>duke leto dies after he's betrayed by his rival baron harkonnen and the emperor
>paul flees into the desert and lives with the fremen, humans who live in the desert in balance with the environment
>paul masters his powers and returns to exact revenge on harkonnen and overthrow the emperor by leading the fremen in a jihad against them
It's pretty neat and very influential, but massively overrated. I'd read the first book, and then check out the rest if you really enjoyed it

Star Wars for serious adults like myself
