Where do Lord of the Rings people go when they die?

Same as how we go when we die, our consciousness cease to exist.

white shores!

A Galaxy Far Far Away

Hell

to the Halls of Mandos

Hell becoase they never acceped Christ

well Boromir's boat proved amazingly sturdy and shot the rapids at Rauros as well as plunging safely down the falls there and eventually out to sea. whether he was skeletonized by opportunistic flesh eating birds I couldn't say

>flesh eating birds
Why didn't the fellowship just used these flesh eating birds and fly the ring to mount Mordor?

THEY GO TO A LAKE OF FIRE AND FRY

To Hell, because they refuse to accept Christ as their lord and savior.

Heroes go to the outermost circle of Hell, along with the virtuous pagans, where life continues and the fires do not reach. Villains go to an area of Hell corresponding with their sins. Some may go to Heaven or Purgatory if they hold an unknowing Baptism of Desire, and God extends the grace of the Church to them in their dying moment (probably what Tolkien intended for most heroes).

The Halls of Mandos, at least for Eldar (elves) and Atani (men). It's not really clear what happens to Dwarves or Ents or other non-immortal beings.

if you can't rely on the Great Eagles you certainly can't rely on these lesser species, user

America

Because there's no such place as mount Mordor. There's a mount Doom which is located in Mordor.

I like you.

The souls of men pass beyond the circle of the world. Elves stay in the halls of Mandos and can reincarnate if they so chose to.

So Boromir was sent to the Ninth Circle as a traitor?

consciousness doesn't die though, only our limited sense of identity dies. Religionfags and atheistfags equally BTFO'd

A good question, for a different time ;)

Read The Silmarillion
I could only make it through 20 pages, it's too autistic for me

do non-human species in lotr even have souls?

clearly they fall into the abyss for being manlets and lanklets

Only people with souls are Orcs.

Mortals go beyond Eä to dwell with Eru and the Ainur who never entered into the world in what could be called heaven. Failing that they'd go into the void. Elves don't get to have an afterlife because they're supposed to be a permanent part of the world. They're stuck with Mandos in what amounts to limbo.

Based.
But Tolkien was a Catholic who meant (not hard canon) for Middle Earth to be a mythology for Britain and Earth.
So the answer is they went to Sheol/Hades to await the Anointing of Abraham and the eventual coming of the Son of Man, when the righteous would be admitted to heaven.

Nowhere because much like God and the afterlife they are not real and do not exist.

>Elves stay in the halls of Mandos and can reincarnate if they so chose to.

No, no, no, no, no. None are reincarnated. Tolkien never definitively said any would be resurrected either. And they certainly weren't given a choice.

Fucking wiki scholars stop taking snippets of material you've never actually read out of context.

as a consequence of viewing this thread I found links to a quite astonishing number of videos in which various people perform selections of JRRT's songs

Men don't go to Mandos, dude. Nobody knows where they go save Illuvatar.

I can think of quite a few famous Elves who would very badly want to but whose petitions Mandos doesn't just dismiss but refuses to hear at all. On the other end of the spectrum you've got people like Glorfindel and Finrod who probably entered the Halls by a revolving door and were allowed out directly.

death is probably like before you're born, just lack of consciousness

It must be especially shitty for him working up fantastically involved and persuasive requests only to get an uncompromising "no" immediately he opens his mouth.

No, they go to Mandos. Remember Luthien begging Mandos to give her back Beren?
I think you are thinking of what happens at the end of the world, only Iluvatar knows what happens to Men after Arda is brought to an end.

>maeglin shut up I'm sick of you
>you can share a cell with your father until you learn to behave

Who manages the tax policy of the Middle Earth after life?

Can they see what's going on in Middle Earth from where they are? Did he see some retarded dwarf getting three fucking hair when he couldn't get one?

desu I think it's one of the cleverer touches that men were initially so brave and virtuous and Eru's gift for them was a mysterious afterlife where they get to be with him

and that one of morgoth's greatest sins was corrupting men to fear death rather than welcome it, and thus furthermore the greatest men in history (Aragorn, elendil, etc.) are the ones that totally overcome their fear of death and pretty much literally become all that men were meant to be

They do though. See what happens with Glorfindel and the fact that the text specifically mentions Finrod walking with his brother in Eldamar after his body is destroyed. Part of Feanor's punishment is that he can never get his body back and will remain a houseless spirit until the end of Arda. It's very much canon that elves can regain their bodies, even if they might have to wait a long-ass time if they were assholes in life.

I remember what it was like before I was born.

their spirit lives on in the investments of their estate

This is nonsense. Our consciousnesses stem slowly from brain activity; when our brains cease to function, our consciousnesses end. We're just matter; to say we're anything more than that is baseless delusion.

no you don't

Take a magnet to your computer and then burn it and crush it. Where does all the data go?

The data has been modified to new values, not destroyed

Traitor? He sacrifice his life in defense of the Hobbits you fucking twat

They don't go to heaven where the angels fly

You forgot to say: The brain is just a computer.

>christians still think that "muh fedoras" is an argument
the original soijak

Why don't you guys just die and then post what happens instead of guessing and arguing?

Listing cliche talking points does not amount to an argument against them

Here we see exhibit A: The blithering atheist who claims to know the nature and laws of reality, consciousness, the mind, the soul, the matter, he claims to have figured out nature of existence itself, yet is such a fool he can not even the see the ignorance of his own mind

I'm not arguing, I'm mocking you.
