Kek, there's a fucking montage of his previous films. You could argue it's a meta commentary on how artists love to sniff their own farts (much like Jack did) but knowing Lars I wouldn't be surprised if he really were so self-indulgent.

critics are right and wrong at the same time. It's definitely a lesser film in Lars's career, but not because of "REEE IT'S VIOLENT REEE EGOTISTICAL" but because it more of the same for Trier, he already trolled people who overanylyze film in Riget series. and did it much better (and no I don't think this film is about Lars himself, this is a surface level observation that people overblow by anylyzing every tiny crap in this film, which is technically Trier's intention, to bait pseuds).

I loved it, it was a wild self masturbatory ride. Watched it with some family and we had fun talking about what we thought it meant. Not necessarily the deepest movie or anything but a great romp through utter depravity.
