Why was it so praised?
It's because the bar is set so low nowadays that an acceptable/watchable/decent movie is considered a masterpiece?
Parasite
just a bandwagon
Screenplay I'm guessing.
Jessica nice
Kino.
I wonder why
it's trendy to like it, shows you're cultured and intelligent
People get so focused on the social/political commentary that they forget that it's fucking well-made. The acting, set design, and cinematography are all top-notch. The script is well-paced and interesting even if you ignore its broader themes. It's just a good ass movie.
exactly plus the noble savage factor of the cute koreans making a ham fisted 90s tier thriller movie. its a business bros.
this
engaging & fun + "important" message = praise & awards
its trendy to like but that doesn't make it any less good
cosoooooomer
this
I agree, but the praise it gets solely because of its social commentary has made me like it less than it probably deserves. I have no problems with any particular aspect of the movie, but the people who are in love with this and why they are make me cynical about liking it
this
You're as mentally unwell as the far left that you hate so much. Find balance in your life.
Because it is a very diverse movie.
The way it turns from comedy to a full drama was quite good
The ending makes no sense.
I've seen Parasite twice and finally watched The Lighthouse today and far preferred the latter. The political aspect of Parasite really made it stand out to critics but The Lighthouse felt more powerful as a film to me.
It's pretty basic. But it's a good movie. Praise was over the top because it's easily accessible and foreign.
>Watch the movie expecting class propaganda.
>End up hating the poor instead.
Anyone else feel this way?
The rich family did nothing wrong and they ended up completely destroyed, everything was a consequence of the poor family's cut-throat opportunism and overconfidence.
It was kind of frustrating to only get a sympathetic epilogue for the family that got what they deserved while completely ignoring the other family who were just victims of circumstance in the whole tragedy.
>It's because the bar is set so low nowadays that an acceptable/watchable/decent movie is considered a masterpiece?
yes
>just a bandwagon
the current bandwagon is thinking parasite is overrated
>they make me cynical about liking it
imagine being so beta, lmao
They were rich, so they deserve it.
It was an 8/10 movie: great cinematography, good acting, well-built script, but too on the nose with plot points and callbacks.
the movie is great because it basically filters all the real parasite, aka those who sympatize the poor family, like
I believe that is the point. The film is largely based around how the working class are pit against each other.
Because it's good
Yep. Recently watched Irishman. It was awful. 3hours long mafia movie parody.
It's called a PUSHBACK, not a bandwagon.
I'm glad the "YOU DIEEE" meme is getting traction. That shit ending deserves ridicule.
>liking commieshit
Go back.
>shit
>ending

some guy on the internet said that the bottom line was that both classes are pretty much the same at the end of the day
>they dont think about anything but themselves (the poorfags not helping other poorfags, like when the poor dad didnt help that guy trying to save his bike and the richfag shelling "GIMME THE KEYS" while jessica was dying)
>they lie, cheat, etc (mr park feels cornered when mr kim asks him if hes in love w his wife and all the newspapers about him talk about a "sudden rise", meaning that he got married because she was already rich. he also says "yeah, lets call him love", when mr kim asks him the 1st time)
i tend to trust that internet guys' pov
>East Asia
>noble savage
Kurosawa, K-pop, K-wood
If theres anything East Asia does wrong its taking their movies too seriously...
>I'm glad the "YOU DIEEE" meme is getting traction.
?
>YOU DON'T RIKE MY SMELL? YOU DIE!
He never says that
I didn't pick up on the social commentary, I enjoyed it because it seemed to ramp up into awkward, horror, comedy, etc, he cycled through many emotions and genres so effortlessly, and I only watched memories of murder and the host, memories is a masterpiece to me, but the host was cheesy schlock that didn't even warrant a re-watch. this was what I wanted since memories and he delivered, maybe the basement guy was a bit on the nose but the movie as a whole is kino, I can't wait to watch it again.
its praised because hollywood wants to make an american adaptation where they insert politics about our man made class system that stems from Hollywood but never acknowledges it and screams ORANGE MAN BAD
I actually was bobbin in between wanting them to get away with it, or helping the cellar dweller, or them getting punishment, the movie was great at swerving and where it would go.
>enjoyed it because it seemed to ramp up into awkward, horror, comedy, etc, he cycled through many emotions and genres so effortlessly
Yeah it was like being a foodie and going to a buffet and seeing all the cuisines of the world that the chefs effortlessly prepared only to sit down with your plate and realized they didn’t manage to make any of them satisfactorily
>HBO making a Parasite miniseries that takes place during the movie with foreign actors
>tfw we won’t get remake kino from David Fincher
Ram-don
Remake should be by modern day Hitchcock Jordan Peale and should star pocs
Did you miss the very obvious theme of the Park family having no empathy for their workers beyond money? They paid them, yes, but not all that much whilst in return demanding the utmost professionalism and efficiency. Mr. Park specifically mentions "crossing the line" in reference to conversations that make him feel threatened/uncomfortable regardless of the intent. He has no emotional reaction to his son's tutor being stabbed in the chest and only talks to Kim because he's the driver with his keys.
The park family didn't initiate the events in the film, but they clearly lack any respect for the lives of other people; or at least those they deem lower than themselves.
Not sure, I mean have you seen Fincher’s kino Dragon Tattoo remake?
Wouldnt the title be a bit too on the nose?
>make one film about underlying racism that's actually a blatant criticism of limousine liberals
>make another film that has pretty much nothing to do with race
>have autistic shitposters constantly whine that you're a race-baiting hack whose relies on racism as a gimmick
Wow, a successful black man really triggers you huh?
Mr. Park also reminds Kim that dressing up like an Indian at his son's birthday party was part of his work that he was getting paid extra for as though he shouldn't feel like he was sharing in a moment they were having and should remember his place.
It's weird, when I saw this it seemed very obvious to me that the poor family were the eponymous "Parasites". But then there were all these people whining about how it was an advocate for socialism and I can see how it critiques the circumstances that lead to the situation. But I think most of the praise comes from the fact that it's a really well made foreign film that's easy to watch if you're not used to foreign films
>wanting a hollywood remake so that you don't have to read subtitles
Know how I know you're American?
I wish you could only quote two posts or it takes 30 seconds every time to click a post number to reply.
This shit is absolutely reddit attention seeking for upvotes.
I actually lived there for a year which is like totaly a unique experience, but seriously compared to you autists, I prob got a better handle on this shit. They are absolutely taking this shit serious to the point they have a militaristic approach to how they shit out Kpop, and everyone in that society. You have to go through like 9 interviews to get an office job in Korea. They are an autistic mutation trying to be like Japan and America. They are a sick culture. I wish I could articulate more, but they basically have a mentality of 8 year olds if the entire country was personified where China and Japan would be old wise men.
Remakes can be kino in the hands of the right director, like Scorsese did with infernal affairs
Yas Forums refuses to discuss this movie...
shut up faggot, read theory
Both times Kim mentions Mr. Park's wife, it's a statement akin to "Ah, what're you gonna do, it makes her happy right?" and in those moments you can tell that in Park's mind Kim has just crossed the line, or is very close to doing so. His employee attempting to be empathetical or supportive is almost treated like an insult and it really shows that Park wants a clear seperation between the two of them on an emotional and personal level.
>brainlets on Yas Forums still think the plot is about class shit and other western ideas
Great film
Watching 1917, The Lighthouse and Parasite in such close proximity was nice. I hadn't seen a proper kino since 2049.
Fuck its like it was made for stupid people to feel smart. Its like they spread these memes to idiots to parrot as part of the marketing. WOW so deep. Might I remind you film is like 200 years old now you fucks and we watch super hero movies. The French already did all this shit you cucks.
>Criticism of capitalism = communism
It was made to get an emotional reaction from its viewers in an attempts to make them question who'm truly has the parasitical relationship with others; in this case its tackling classes and how the top can leech off of the bottom, and vice-versa.
Having the same interpretation or observations as other people isn't in and of itself, "parroting". Maybe it's simply an engrossing movie with clear themes that any retard with half a brain like yourself can easily interpret?
Not treating their workers like family doesn't mean they completely lack empathy, they even trusted them to take care of the house in their absence and they took advantage of it.
>He has no emotional reaction to his son's tutor being stabbed in the chest and only talks to Kim because he's the driver with his keys.
Kim had no reaction to Park's son having a seizure either, which is the reason he was asking for the keys.
He also didn't even care that he was about to indirectly kill Park's young son and decrease the odds of his own daugther getting medical attention all because he had to sperg out and kill his boss for some dumb reason.
Pretty much.
You also have to remember that the Academy doesn't even watch the movies they vote on the majority of the time.
Is it as corny as snowpiercer?
Even if you think that the Parks should have payed them higher wages or that they should have treated them more warmly, it's still nothing compared to the literal leeching and predatory behaviour of the Kims towards the other two families.
