Why do they consider themselves 'Mediterranean'?

They always try to have a voice in any cultural/gastronomical/political discussion with either Spain, France, Italy, Greece... But they are not geographically 'Mediterranean'. Why do they do that?

They are genetically and culturally Mediterranean.

>nordtugal

Yeah you are right Juan Alfonso,we are a textbook nordic country

Having a coast on the mediterranean does not mean that the cunt is /med/ (Egypt, Libya, Slovenia)

But it does and Portugal is culturally Med whereas with Northern France is sort of and sort of isn't at the same time.

The look the part.

>culturally Med
No such thing, tell me the similarity in culture of Madrid and the capitals of any non European countries.

There is no such thing as "med" culture by any stretch of the definition.

This. It’s almost like saying Nigeria and Ireland have a similar culture because they are both on the Atlantic.

anyone from France or Spain would have a cultural shock by the people anywhere in the african coastline or the west asian coast line.

Roman/Ancient Greek culture is completely alien to the Islamic and judaic cultures.

Those are Mediterranean countries

We consider ourselves Afro-aryans

It’s only alien because of the Islamic conquests. The Mediterranean part of Africa and Asia used to be much closer to the Mediterranean part of Europe when they were still Christian.

>Those are Mediterranean countries
There is no cultural similarity of countries bordering the Mediterranean ocean.

Roman and Greek culture were alien to the African coast and West Asian coast, Roman and Greek culture influenced the Christian cult which the Asian and African Christians would have been culturally alien to just as the ethiopian and armenians/georgian christians.

The Greek alphabet literally came from the Phoenician one, they obviously had a great degree of contact in ancient times.

Georgians, copts, Lebanese Christians and Armenians are culturally alien to European countries that have land on the med ocean.

I didn't mention culture, but any country on the Mediterranean sea is a Mediterranean country

>The Greek alphabet literally came from the Phoenician one, they obviously had a great degree of contact in ancient times.
As much great degree of contact or less than the italian that travelled to the African coast and adopted and adapted the Hindu numeral system.

It's not an ocean

>but any country on the Mediterranean sea is a Mediterranean country
And it means nothing for any of these countries being part of any group or culture.

>It’s only alien because of the Islamic conquests. The Mediterranean part of Africa and Asia used to be much closer to the Mediterranean part of Europe when they were still Christian.
The African coast and Asian Coast has always been completely alien territory for European countries with land on the med ocean.

Yep

Anyway like your countryman said, pre-Islam people of the Mediterranean shared similarities in culture.. And hopefully it will be like that again

Sorry I meant this.

>Anyway like your countryman said, pre-Islam people of the Mediterranean shared similarities in culture.. And hopefully it will be like that again
No, there were no similarities of culture of Europeans and the African Asian Coastal countries.

The concept of Europe as a distinct cultural region has only existed for less than 1000 years. The average Italian in the Roman Empire probably had more in common with the average Egyptian in the Roman Empire than the average German living outside of the empire culturally.

Pre Islamic North Africa spoke exclusively Berber, Pre Islamic Middle East spoke Aramaic and various semitic languages, all completely alien to the Greek and Latin language which are much closer to Swedish than to any African or Asian country on the med coast, also no European country that has land on the med has anything in common with African and Semitic land.

The average Roman was completely alien to any of the conquered people in their empire which none were citizens or made to be citizens but conquered subjects, the Romans were part of the European cultural group just as the Egyptians and Syrians were part of the semitic cultures, Germanic and Greek/Roman culture were very much extremely similar in every facet of their culture.

Culture isn’t just language and genetics.

The actual Italian is disagreeing with you.

Calling that Europe never existed as a group is like saying Middle Easterners could not be identified as being part of their own cultural groups.

In terms of the way of life and the way of being the Romans and Greeks were very much similar to Germanics and Celts, while being alien to semitic cultures just as China.

>The actual Italian is disagreeing with you.
He is not Italy and wasn't chosen by anyone as their representative to speak for them.

So you speak for us. Right

If you were to say that to a Greek or a Roman 2000+ years ago they would probably feel insulted.

Obviously here on Yas Forums especially on Yas Forums you'll find many Italians that think exactly like you, but guess what they're just braiwashed retards.
