Nah you can have an index fund as part of or all of your portfolio in a stocks and shares ISA

They're very widely reccomended and considered the safe option. the FTSE 100 tracks the 100 biggest companies on the london stock exchange and has a very good track record of trending upwards over time

there's loads of other index funds too, it just happens to be a good time to invest in an index tracking the FTSE 100 as it will bounce upwards at some point when the economy gets going after lockdown
