>mfw I just realized I spend $700 a year on smokes
>mfw I realize I would have been spending almost $3000 on smokes if I lived somewhere in Western Europe or the US
Mfw I just realized I spend $700 a year on smokes
I spend around 1400AUD a year on Pepsi Max, desu. I don't drink or smoke or take recreational drugs, or eat out or really spend any money in a social context.
My sister spends 600 dollars a month on smokes.
A pack of cigarettes here costs 793.38 rubles
How many packs a day does that equate to and how does she find the time to smoke them?
Imagine paying $$$ to get gancer
Doesn't get more cucked than that
>a pack of cigarettes cost 20$ in australia and almost as much in new zealand
>14$ in UK also
wtf i thought we would be in the top of taxing unhealthy things but those prices are just insane
Holy shit, stop being a junkie
I'm just salty that I could have bought something useful with those $5k I spent on cigarettes 2bh
I should quit it just to save up some money
That's really fucked up, but it works as a measure to prevent people from starting sucking on those nicotine pacifiers
Nigga why don't you roll them yourself? It's like 50% cheaper
I can't handle smoke, my nose is too sensitive. So, I am have never smoked in my life. Why do people do it? DO you get high doing it, feel good, or is it just a habit?
It's actually more expensive to roll here due to VAT and all of that
I spend 1000€ in energy drinks in the last 12 months
It's just an addiction, you don't get high but you can feel the need of it. If anything it feels like a chore.
t. Smoked for 9 years
>$20
if only lol
I find it gives me a rush that makes me feel more calm and alert. It also makes my legs tingle, but I almost never do it, so i'm probably very sensitive to nicotine.
what does it cost?
Shit that sucks. One rolling bag lasts about a week for me. Filters, bag and papers are about 10€. You can roll 50 cigs
Hmm then is it like coffee?
>Why do people do it?
Because they get hooked up
>DO you get high doing it, feel good, or is it just a habit?
It's a forced placebo. After you get into smoking your brain and lungs are asking for more nicotine, so you smoke another cigarette to fill up the lack of nicotine you've created by smoking your first cig.
In other words you smoke to feel yourself better as if you never smoke
Something like that
im a huge caffeine addict and it feels like a chore to make coffee so I just pop caffeine pills instead
>I can't handle smoke, my nose is too sensitive
My parents smoked while my brother and I were kids. When we were young, they divorced and my step mum also smoked. Always fucking hated the smell of it, even to this day, despite having the disgusting shit in my face for years. My step siblings all started smoking in their mid teens, fucking idiots, yet my brother and I never touched the stuff. Seeing kids smoking these days is really cringeworthy.
I think they start at around $35 for a 20 pack, at the moment.
I don't think so
I sometimes drink coffee in the morning if I sleep too little and it helps, but I never felt an urge to drink
With ciggies you get addicted very easily and at some point you don't smoke to "feel good", you smoke cause you have to
I stand corrected
> Seeing kids smoking these days is really cringeworthy.
Agreed, esp I really can't handle the smoke. I start feeling lightheaded
that makes sense. Why don't people replace this addiction with some other like coffee or something else like maybe eating sweets?
Hmmm that sounds terrible
I'm a non-smoker and my dad did smoke but never around me. But i literally don't give a shit about the smell.
most of my friends smoke, i spend a long time in smoking areas and its never even vaguely bothered me
a pack of premium squares in north korea costs about $0.85 cents.
I think every smoker can agree that coffee is mandatory for cigs kek
>I think they start at around $35 for a 20 pack, at the moment.
uh i think its like 6-7$ here. i remember them being like 4$ 10-15 years ago.
even at 7$ a pack it's still pretty expensive to smoke, it adds up to a lot over a year. but 35$? can anyone non-rich afford that?
a Marlboro pack costs around 2 usd here but it's actually quite expensive when you consider our meme currency
Have to buy expensive finnish ciggs, because border is closed, cant buy cheap russian cigarettes anymore fug
>But i literally don't give a shit about the smell.
>i spend a long time in smoking areas and its never even vaguely bothered me
Maybe there is a certain set of genes that when expressed, result in the chemicals commonly used in commercial tobacco really irritating someone while other person barely notices it. Are there other generally nasty smells that people complain about that you don't really have an issue with?
True words. I have been smoking for almost a decade and now I absolutely hate the smell and taste, but I have to smoke to feel myself better.
Nicotine cold turkey is the worst. You feel like your lungs are being compressed. But at least it goes on only for a few days
>Why don't people replace this addiction with some other like coffee or something else like maybe eating sweets?
Some do and they end up getting fat, yet they still feel like they are replacing the smoking with the thing they are doing right now.
For example, if you quit smoking and start eating it up with candies, every time you'd eat a candy you will feel like you do that only to get away from smoking. So the psychological addiction won't go away
It's the opposite here, local brands are cheap but would tear your lungs apart
>can anyone non-rich afford that?
Not really, which is kind of the point in the taxes. The government wants to make it prohibitively inaccessible so less people take it up and more people are pressured into quitting.
How effective it actually is, well, I don't know. People are more than willing to go without other expenses, fall behind in rent, etc. in order to maintain addictions such as smoking.
Am I the only female girl around here who has never smoked in her life?
Not really. I'm not easily offended by smells but i know when something smells like shit and its unpleasant.
all my immediate family were smokers at one point mabye im genetically prone to it and am like Lisa in that episode of the Simpsons where she gets addicted to second hand smoke.
I don't know but thats why im never going to start.
