We unironically have ammo that goes into a real gun specifically made to kill snakes. It would probably work fine on a spider in a garage also.

I've had my wife try to kill a huntsman with a 9mm I had in the lounge room pulled to bits for repairs, about the only thing that saved us from an 'incident' was the fact she didn't get it together correctly in time and I got back in the house just in time to see what all the screaming was about.
Which doesn't matter if we're out on the farm, but it was in the middle of Sydney at the time and it was going to get pretty fucking spicy if you start shooting up the apartment block.

Huntsman are more or less harmless to people and actually help keep shit like flies and silverfish away. And spider bites which turn deadly are rare and fatal ones even more so.
