while the low cost of oil will result in cheaper fuel for travel and manufacturing, a lot of people employed in the oil industry will be out of jobs and have a residual effect on an already slowing economy.

I wouldn't say so, you have put a lot of faith in your oil and gas industry lately. Many jobs and a lot of money depend on that. It's not as worse as the OPEC states have it, but I would have said it pretty much still sucks.

It's the opposite, low prices are delaying the development of green technologies.
