Is Spain the new Korea of 00s / 10s for movies ? Streaming platforms are flooded with Spanish movies and series now like Casa de Papel, Elite, The Occupant etc

no

Fuck Spain.

Chupa mi penisado

Kinda. It's because Netflix and other platforms can afford to invest in Spanish-language movies/series because Latin America

fuck no m8, spanish shows suck , nobody watch it in Spain.

I assume Latinx braindeads gobble up all those awful Spanish shows

/Thread.

I watched a Dutch show btw. At first it was intriguing but then I realised it was fucking awful. I vomited.

Basically white pipo = bad and modern world = black mulattoes

Kind of, but it's a bit different. You see, the most important demographic development on the Internet right now is the rapid expansion of the Hispanophere, fueled by both pure demographics but also an increase in Internet penetration, just by looking at sites like YouTube you can see an enormous increase of young Spanish-speaking users in the whole world at large but also locally like in countries like the US where young Latinos are becoming an increasingly important demographic. Internet phenomenons like Despacito didn't happen in a vacuum.

So Spanish media with a long tradition of cinematography is able to use Latin American demographics and celebrities as a form of signal boost to penetrate the prevailing Anglo-Saxon cultural sphere.

nah, because of the changing demographics of America.

Most US hispanics can speak English

Will the US become a primarily hispanophone country?

The independence of the south-west is unironically more likely

"The platform" was great, despite the unsatisfying end.

With the accession of Puerto Rico as an official Spanish-speaking state the US could potentially morph into a second bilingual Canada.

Yes. I think Netflix has a big office in Madrid

What is the signification of the end ?

>2050 there will be 130 million Spanish-speaker in the US

.

well, in Hollywood there are a few well-known actors who come from the Spanish-speaking world (Antonio Banderas, Penelope Cruz, Salma Hayek,Andy Garcia, Ana de Armas even that guy whose name is Hector in every movie)

Bydlos here worship Torrente. Thank Allah I haven't seen it.

But Torrente is funny user

The thing is a lot of those actors played first in Latin American, most of the time Mexican productions and then they ended up in American movies as well. Besides the link between American and Mexican cinema are very strong.

No it is not. It's like Dan Harmon watched it and turned it into a cartoon.

Also as I have already said and looking at the example of the casa del papel, this series got boosted inthe very beginning through famous celebrities, such as actors and football players praising it on social media which got transmitted through the increased presence of Spanish-speakers on social media which trinkled in turn into spheres where those have a big expat presence like the US and France.

maybe,
well i agree , Although I don't know where around the world this is popular, I don't have a netflix account / follow this show.

Spanish shows may be popular on netflix but you barely see spanish movies in theaters, only people who are into movies watch them

In the western world the latest casa de papel seasons are flops while in Brazil and Mexico and such normies are all buying masks and follow it like a religion. It should be obvious why Spanish series are more common

casa de papel, elite... Are shit

I somewhat pity Americans for never watching Taxi, Torrente or Yamakasi.

La casa de papel was ok during the first two season, it became utter shit with the Netflix-produced new seasons.
Élite is a teen drama, it's good enough for its genre.

i liked the platform ironically desu

What about Toy Boy with the red head of Elite ?

The idea and the production are good, script mediocre, and the ending little thought

A few friends of mine recommended it but I still haven't watched it myself, doesn't look like my kind of series.

Best spanish kino of 2019

wow rude just rude

All Dutch shows are stupid crime comedies/thrillers full of cameos. Hell the biggest of them all is starred by a guy known for the supermarket commercials.
You definitely didn't see a Dutch show

Unironically the only good Spanish TV show of the last 8 years was Conquistadores Adventum. But I think it hasn't been translated into other languages or exported.

The fire rises, it's the spanish era once again

Looks ultimate trash. Guys, Tokio used to play this some years ago. She's so bad...

If you wanna watch Spanish movies go with Amenabar, Almodovar, Buñuel, Berlanga, de la Iglesia... Good Spanish directors

based

also Sorogoyen del Amo and Bayano.

There are many great Spanish directors, none of them are producing crappy netflix content

>2008

Yes, it was a Dutch show.

Basically the monster is the rage of old black slaves. All whites will die and all. I vomited honestly. Fucking ethno masochism

>Bayano

Bayona* lol

Jesus that looks awful

Yeah and she couldn't manage to improve a single shit in 10 years

Also they literally spit on Dutch history I noticed

Daniel Monzón and Jaume Balagueró too
