3rd most well-known East Asian food after Japanese and Chinese. Fewer people are familiar with Korean or even Vietnamese dishes, for example, while the rest of Asia might as well not even exist.
How did Thai food become so popular?
>3rd most well-known East Asian food after Japanese and Chinese.
Which is a shame because it's 100 times better than both
Also what's the dish on the top right?
Based.
Top right is your standard ต้มยำ/ต้มยําวุ้นเส้น
Thai food is elder god tier. What's the dish on the bottom right?
Giant freshwater prawns.
that thai food its not even final form
that's basically friendly foot for fat foreigners
there is way more flavourful and less greasy foods, also more exotic
ps i love thailand
I do believe that Thai food is more popular then Japanese in Sweden, the only thing that gives some weight to Japanese food is sushi.
Spent 4 weeks in Thailand, and I do like your food but after 3 weeks I was so bored with it I just wanted some potatoes and and a medium rare beef. Thankfully there was a Finnish restaurant that served it cheap.
Also enjoy Vietnamese and Indonesian dishes.
Probably because people get tired of chinese eating every living animal and Japanese eating people.
I know, but what sauce is that?
I wouldn't say that since there's not really such a thing as 'foreign friendly' food, just food foreigners are more familiar with. But it does depress me how many don't know about the dishes we regularly order, even something as simple as ผัดกะเพรา which is considered one of our core menu items and basically captures the essence of Thai dining.
Why the fuck was there a finnish restaurant in Thailand?
Because when Finnish white trash go on holiday to Thailand, they just go to the Finnish tourist area with Finnish bars and restaurants
need a cooking mommy thai gf
I can't really see it close enough to tell you but typically they're served with a dipping sauce that's a mix of spicy, salty and sour.
There are Lebanese and Iranian places as well. Really every culture has a restaurant here.
that looks so greasy/fatty and delicious
BTW
I wish Thai nightclub scene was more popular
I was watching thai tv the other day, their techno music and dances are something else
I am tired of all club scenes on media wanting to be black American only
It's actually not very greasy since it's grilled instead of fried. Yeah Thai club scenes are fun and a nice way to meet new people.
Thai food lacks subtlety. I prefer Vietnamese cuisine.
I bet you do, Phan.
because it's a nice combination of indian and chinese food. I love it
from my own very limited experience, vietnamese food uses less herbs and spices, it feels more traditional and to the point per se
thai is spices and flavour explotion with alot of fatty essence per se
never heard of "thai"
"chinese" should be anything that is not sushi but its from asia
I'm not sure either of them makes much use of sour and coconut flavors though.
Vietnamese cuisine has subtlety and depth. It's like the Japanese cuisine of Southeast Asia.
Thai food is basically the Chinese cuisine of Southeast Asia. Just add more curry powder, oil and spices, bro.
Chinese use alot of sour
Oh, and coconut milk.
Usually with sweet, not as tangy or acidic.
Vietnamese food isn't really Asian anymore since a lot of it is bastardized due to colonization, lots of Western noise like crepes and garlic bread.
Same with Thai and Indian
Nope.
>nooooo i have the better pizza and cheese macaroni
