How did Thai food become so popular?

3rd most well-known East Asian food after Japanese and Chinese. Fewer people are familiar with Korean or even Vietnamese dishes, for example, while the rest of Asia might as well not even exist.

I do believe that Thai food is more popular then Japanese in Sweden, the only thing that gives some weight to Japanese food is sushi.

Also enjoy Vietnamese and Indonesian dishes.

Probably because people get tired of chinese eating every living animal and Japanese eating people.
