The “whitest” Hispanics will still tan (castizos) even if they have blond hair and bright eyes; darker Hispanics are mixed race obviously, hard to tell the exact mixture. Mulattos (black–white) you can typically tell by the hair texture the most easily, but every other mix past that (quadroon, octoroon, hexadecaroon, etc.) you can tell by their clothes and they'll typically tell you if there aren't any overt physical features, but there's usually at least one that gives it away.

Because the more a country cares about ethnicity, the less actually unique ethnic traits a country has. And US citizens have a habit of making up ancestral history because their great-great-grandmother once sucked off a Paddy, and if that doesn't make you Irish, what does?

Hell, the entire "one drop rule" was invented because US slave owners would not stop fucking their slaves, and shit that appeases the hyuckles starts looking a bit silly when half their family is mixed raced.

No, it was created after slavery was abolished to ‘systemitize’ the caste separation that previously had legal efficacy. Blacks and whites both adhered to it, keeping separate from each other, but in the case of mixing, keeping the White population pure.
