I don't get it. It doesn't happen in other Nordic countries even though we're pretty much as faggy as they are in every other perspective.
And before Amerifat maga-hats start their screeching about Somalians and socialism, this was a thing before mass immigration from Africa and Middle-East to Sweden.
They're mimicking those faggots from 80s California.
Grayson Wilson
That was 15 years ago, and I would imagine people did the same in Helsingfors back then.
Jacob Gonzalez
Why are they still doing it though?
Dylan Cox
Because they're stupid
Justin Morris
People crave what they cannot/do not have. For Swedes, its the sun and tanning.
Colton Robinson
No they didn't. That's why it's so weird. Helsinkians always copy everything from Stockholm but this fake-tan trend was never a thing here.
Michael Baker
Then why don't Finns and the others this?
Thomas Nelson
what does socialism and africans have to do with tan? are you obsessed with something?
James Diaz
The Dutch do this as well.
Logan Carter
Really? Is it popular in the Netherlands?
Jaxon Sanchez
No one has done it in the past 15 years
Isaiah Myers
I beg to differ.
But even if you're right, why was it a trend in the first place?
Juan Peterson
We don't anymore but this fashion was called Fjortis. I was a Fjortisboy that's what we called ourselves. I had the anime hair and the tan but we weren't anywhere near as orange as these dudes. The subculture was about listening to EDM and techno and wearing specific brands of clothes. We wore Björn Borg shorts and t-shirts, 96 jeans, Svea hats and Fjällräven or Canada Goose jackets. If you were Fjortis you would lose your virginity at 13 or 14 the latest. Pretty embarassing in hindsight but still a lot of good memories. There was huge rivalry between emos and fjortisar some videos youtube.com/watch?v=llRKGnQeAcU youtube.com/watch?v=aWhy2kM1eo8
I just wonder how that never travelled to Helsingfors or Åbo and via them to the rest of Finland? Or is Fjortis the same as Finnish "Fruittari", from "Fruit of the Loom"-clothing? They didn't have anime hair nor fake tan but the clothes were pretty similar.
Was "Fjortis" a thing Norway and/or Denmark too?
Xavier Edwards
Norway had some knock off version of it. I dunno about Denmark
fjortis used to be a term but it seemed more like an ironic thing to me
Xavier Rodriguez
I swear girls looked way bitchier back then than they do now
Jose Gonzalez
I was a teenager back then but I don't remember them being a thing in Finland.
Joshua Morris
They acted less bitchy, pretty ironic
Parker Lewis
Im pretty sure it was not a thing in Norway
Gabriel Reed
> you would lose your virginity at 13 or 14 the latest How is that a good thing
James Foster
It was a good thing to me back when I was 13. Did wonders for my confidence honestly. The trend ended and that subculture died when I turned 14 so I dropped it and became a normal guy. I remember my dad asking me why the fuck I was wearing a hat during the middle of summer. We would wear these gay as fuck looking hats halfway around the head and still style the hair outside of it
