The Netherlands is only good if you are dutch yourself or can speak dutch. Living here as non-dutch speaking expat basically means you're condamned to being alone.
Its literally super depressing walking by bars and restaurants on a friday night and seeing people inside having fun, talking and chating while you go back home and stare at a screen all alone because you have no one bothers to befriend english speaking expats here. You can literally be a normie in your home country but once you land here without the ability to speak dutch you are a social outcast.
Dutch people will only speak english when they have to and there isnt anyone who will speak english for you unless they absolutely have.

Its also really hard to befriend people, as people here are really to the point and hate small talk. I've mentioned this in previous threads but you can literally talk to someone for 40 minutes and they wont even ask your name.

Doing a project with someone? The only point of contact is getting shit done with the project. No one will invite you out to get a beer or to have coffee.

I literally used to think depression was a meme because I have a big social circle back home but here I do not even have anyone to call.
