I'm going to be honest: even with just the Squid, I've always thought that the U.S./Sovet Union would have itchy trigger finger nukes flying around each other in minutes in reality.

U.S. would immediately assume it, whatever it was, was SU as soon as NYC was clearly the destroyed target, and counter strike, and/or conspiracies that it was a Soviet Union experiment bioengineering by their government would be fucking everywhere. So would counter-conspiracy theories in the SU.

It's very possible that something of that nature could happen, but at the very least the plan was more fleshed out, there was a terrible logic to it that made the reader actually ask themselves "Fuck, could that actually work?"

The movie version plays out just like a bad guy killing people and being crazy. I don't buy the movie plan at all, I don't believe it could work. The comic plan, I believed it had a chance. Either way the plan was absolutely insane, but I just feel like the movie missed out on who Ozymandias really was and what he was trying to do
