The Japanese dub of Scooby-Doo is... bizarre.
"Cowardly Crooper"?
They just didn't get what the show was about. The intro lyrics translate to something along these lines:
>Why are you such a coward,
>That's why everyone makes fun of you!
>Why are you so cowardly,
>That's why everyone's laughing at you!
>Crooper the Cowardly pest!
>Crooper the Cowardly pest!
>A disgrace to his canine friends!
>Once in a while, fight and do something good!
>Go, Go, Go Cowardly Crooper!
>Why are you such a coward,
>That's why everyone makes fun of you!
>Why are you so cowardly,
>Ghost stories make you shiver in fear!
>Crooper the Cowardly pest!
>Crooper the Cowardly pest!
>He holds everyone up for a delicious bone!
>Face the bad guys,
>Go, Go, Go Cowardly Crooper!
>Crooper the Cowardly pest!
Compare this to the English intro which, while calling Scooby the coward that he is, still encourages him and isn't just one-sided bashing.
Must be a cultural thing. While a cowardly dog may be funny in the west, in Japan it’s probably considered shameful.
Same for the early seasons' Italian dub. Very few bleeped out swear words, they were mostly replaced with regional expressions and words that sound like cussing but aren't. Still had a lot more soul and expression that the current dub. Also, the movie actually translated swear words for some reason.
The Italian dub for Beavis and Butt-head Do America is very impressive for a dub that tries to adapt Beavis and Butt-head's humor and word play.
Almost every South Park dub is terrible because they don't even try to sound like kids

Holy fucking dubkino
>VA A CAGARE BEAVIS
1st Hungarian dub for The Flintstones had every episode and every line done in rhyme like Dr. Seuss. Even in those last seasons with Gazoo.
Again, in Italy they actually accentuated the fact that they're kids too much, by giving Stan and Kyle falsetto like voices, but paired with the vulgar stuff they say, it gave the show a new layer of humor which made the dubbing iconic in my opinion.
Tbf, they don’t make much of an effort to make them sound like kids in the original
English version. At least not anymore
Mondrigos!
Beavis and Butt-Head had its own special dub in Argentina where they talk about local shows:
>dubbing
I would like to see how you dubfags translated stuff like this.

I thought this was a shitpost until I got to the youtube link
Based spanishbro. They also translated the wordplays in Italian, but I can't find a clip on youtube. Antidubbingfag BTFO
First Hungarian Flintstones dub was legendary and it's said that it helped inspire the Hungarian television cartoon boom of the 70s. But it only covered some random episodes and The Man Called Flintstone movie.
It had other oddities apart from the rhyming. Almost all the music and sound effects were replaced because the dubbers had no way of separating the dialogue track from the rest of the audio. This makes the show super surreal to watch since most of the time there's no sound other than the voices, and the new music and foley effects sound nothing like the originals. And they completely rewrote the plot of The Man Called Flintstone to be about drug trafficking, turning it into an adult animated comedy.
There's a second dub made in the mid 2000s that kept all the original music and sounds, and dubbed the episodes in order, but for some reason the final season was not included. The new scripts ramped up the rhymes and wordplays even more.
Space Ghost Coast to Coast in Spanish (gallego) had interviews with celebrities from Spain:

I thought Gallego was Galician, which is closer to Portuguese than Castilian.
The Dutch SpongeBob dub comes really close to sounding like the original dub of the show. It's why it still feels pretty nostalgic to hear the Dutch dub of the show.
They also changed the names of the Kanker Sisters in the Dutch dub of Ed Edd n Eddy because Kanker is literally the dutch version of Cancer and it's a sensitive word here.
Also, Jasper's voice actor in the Dutch Dub of SU is a dude, so I thought Jasper was male.
For the rest, most of the dubbing sounds accurate to the original dub. But only children's cartoons and anime gets dubbed. More adult shows and anime are just shown with Dutch subtitles.
At least they pitch their voices up, it's disturbing to hear Butters with a deep man voice
Any idea what they’re saying here?

The french dub of South Park is quite iconic in the country, as iconic as the Simpsons one. Instead of just translating traditionally they add more "fun" in the dubbing. I prefer to watch the show in french just for the french dubbing.

Also Cartman's voice in french is way funnier than the original

>pic related is Cartman's voice actor
In the Hungarian King of the Hill, there's a lot of uncensored swearing to mimic how everyday Hungarian countrymen talk, and because they wanted to pander to South Park's audience. The dubbing was handed over to different people after the episodes where the Hills go to Japan, and they cut all the swearing and dumbed everything down, they even made Boomhauer speak coherently.
Boomhauer spoke normally in the dub I watched (Latin Spanish), but they changed the names of nearly all the main characters:
>Hank Hill = Hector Reyes
>Bobby = Beto
>Cotton = Carlos
>Dale Gribble = Diego Gomez
>Bill Dauterive = Blas Davalos
>Boomhauer = Benavidez
>Luanne Platter = Lola Plata
>John Redcorn = Sancho Mazorca
>those Russian dubs of SP and KOTH voiced entirely by a boomer cop

I'm French and I hate it. The voice actors aren't nearly as good as their American counterparts and the kids sound super off because they're clearly not doing the pitch adjustment the original dub does . And I say that as someone who first watched it in French.
The Hungarian dubs for both DuckTales (Kacsamesék) shows are, bizarrely, among the most unique dubs for those show.
While the first three seasons of the original show were dubbed and aired during the early-mid 90s, the final season wasn't dubbed until the mid 2000s and, for some reason, the entire voice cast (bar Pogány Judit, the triplets' actress) got replaced for that season. Also, there is literally a political term in Hungary called "Kacsamesék generáció" to describe people whose first major political experience was when the death of József Antall (the first democratically elected prime minister of Hungary) got announced during an episode of the show.
The reboot, meanwhile, got the OG season 4 voices for Webby (Bogdányi Titanilla) and Scrooge (Pálfai Péter) to reprise their roles for the reboot. Also, unlike others dub of the show, the triplets are played by actual child actors (Tóth Márk, Mayer Marcell, and Berecz Kristóf Uwe). However, Tóth's (Huey) voice broke partway through the first season, causing the Hungarian Huey for then on to sound consistently deeper than the English Huey.

One of my favorite cartoon dubs ever. It’s even funnier and more politically-incorrect than the original:

Nu-Ducktales was also the introduction to Darkwing Duck for many European nations because the original show was only released in a few countries. In Hungary, they named him Sötét Tollas, or "the Dark Feathered One".
>Also, the movie actually translated swear words for some reason.
The plot depends on the characters swearing in the movie.
How is it more politically incorrect? I don't speak Spanish.
I'm curious, how did the translator people go about translating Boomhauer's way of talking?
They speak like cubanos, you know, cuBeans!!
I like to say as an American, I'm glad our garbage like Golden Films got hilariously bad foreign dubs.

03 Leo jap voice actor is Tetsuya Kakihara.
I was actually in Italy and they had South Park in German. I have no clue what they were saying.
For the series that is correct. However, for the movie, I'm pretty sure they either pitch corrected or hired female actresses to voice the kids.
Devon and Cornwall in the Hebrew dub of Quest for Camelot were dubbed by a pair of actual twins.
Homer Simpson was dubbed by the same guy who dubbed Eddie Murphy and Jim Carrey in most of their movies in Italy. Kino voice
was dubbed into Irish too at 4pm, with swearing intact but in Irish
You remember those Pink Panther cartoons with the aardvark?
In Germany, they redubbed the aardvark as a female character named Blaue Elise. The scripts were completely rewritten with a very sardonic sense of humor. Probably my favourite example is the one where she uses plunger shoes and says something like "I married a plumber once. He sent me these as his alimony." They're funnier than the originals and "Elise" became so popular, they even kept her as a woman in the new cartoons with a soundalike (her original VA died years ago; same woman who voiced The Queen of Hearts in Disney's Alice and Miss Piggy).

That sounds really bad
Am i the only one who hates AT's mexican dub? Mostly because of the unbearable amount of slangs, other cartoons like EE&E and Courage had that much.
Also
>My flesh craves sex and sun

Btw i miss [AS], the Space Ghost and ATHF were on point.
A Charlue Brown's Christmas original mexican dub (with actual children) should be considered lost media. It was broadcasted in the 60's-80's until it was redubbed then later replaced by the venezolean one.

German King DeDeDe has the same voice as German Mr. Krabs.
They've done worse. Like dubbing Alejo and Valentina. That's some money laundry shit.
I don't understand Japanese, but I watched the Japanese dub of the South Park movie and it sounded like they got a hentai VA to voice The Clitoris.
Why dailymotion?
Anyway...
>Violin Jiger appearing out of nowhere.
>No implications relative to Transformers Animated
German Spongebob is hilarious, especially when he yells. The Rock Bottom episode is even funnier
South Park is gonna be btfoed by this show real soon
Based. Shall I make an Italian dubbed version of this? You know, Italy and Spain are the best dubbing countries.
