I only ever noticed it going off model when it was really fucking bad like in that one Garnet scene or with the Diamonds, who go from being so big they have eyes bigger than Steven to being like 20 feet tall max depending on the scene. Otherwise, it was more just a gradual degeneration in animation quality that I didn't notice because it was happening slowly enough. S1 has a very Rebecca Sugar look to it, by S4 and 5, it got more cutesy and less detailed.
