Neither film is subtle with its political commentary. Antz was a darker and bleaker film tho
This is the best pixar movie
Antz' tone wasn't as directly child-focused as A Bug's Life, yeah. Neither is subtle, yeah.
A Bug's Life is legit based and I'm sad it doesn't get the recognition it deserves. It's an animated classic.
Bug's Life always nagged me because of how unusually dark and cynical it was, and sure this is in comparison to later movies, but it always felt like such a black sheep. I also hate movies that center around keeping a secret because they always end up developing the same.
It just feels like an early 2000s Dreamworks movie to me more than what I think of when I think of Pixar.
Let me guess, you're thinking of Shark Tale when you say early 2000s Dreamworks movie ?
The colony in Bug's Life had emphaty for each other, whereas the one in Antz feels like every individual is only thinking of himself. It's far more cynical
>The Seven Samurai
it's just Seven Samurai you fuckers
>Not 七人の侍
Over the Hedge too. Maybe less that and more like a lot of early 2000s CG movies. I wonder if the color palette has to do with it? Thinking about Al's Toy Barn versus many of the areas in Bug's Life probably has something to do with it.
Did anyone...?
