The series was constantly shitting on every character who wasn't Republic aligned or an OC Donut Steel. "Character development for everyone" my fucking ass, Dooku and Grievous needed it the most and look at where we are now.

Even then, the double blade style limits you a lot because your restricted to only so many angles and approaches. It's not like a normal staff/polearm weapon because 2/3 of it is a dangerous blade you can't touch and you can't block with the handle because another lightsaber will just slice right through it.
