I think there are several concepts being mixed together:
>fake geek girl aka someone who only superficially gives a shit about geek stuff just to have to write something in her social profile bio
>fake geek girl aka consoomer who consooms popculture and popculture accesories
>geek girl who considers herself a contributor to the fandom due to the fanart and gay smut she produces (for free)
I assume someone saw some dirty male complaining about one of these and conflated all three issues so the complaint feels more broad than originally was, them also made a ridiculous claim that males are gatekeepers because they spend money and care about the canon.
