Ross hates 90's characters such as Kyle Rayner

There is also the fact that Emerald Twilight is a shitty story too. Even if you hated GL and Hal Jordan, it's still pretty east to admit that wiping out his setting - in a completely different book for the service of a crossover event that hadn't even involved GL up to that point no less, having him go insane and kill most of his supporting cast, then turn him into a villain just so you can replace him with some guy faffing around New York while being scolded by a blue midget douchebag was a poor editorial decision. At the very least they could have made sure that Kyle's initial run was good to soften the blow, but it took them years to find a decent groove for Kyle. They don't even treat Wonder Woman that bad, and they treat Wonder Woman pretty badly.

Honestly, the Marz years were alright and I still enjoy them. My only problem with them was that they were crossover central, but you can't expect much different when he was a completely new character. When he got on the Justice League, he actually had the opportunity to get his own stories and the quality went up dramatically.

The reason that Kyle still has fans isn't because of his own book. It's because he was the POV self-insert of Morrison's run on JLA, and it was fucking awesome.

this is still the best explanation on how the ring works that I've read so far

I'm actually fond of Kyle's solo stuff, but fuck me if it wasn't them just throwing shit on the wall to see if it stuck, then hosing down the wall anyway. Nero was a massively wasted opportunity.

I'm surprised that his current GL isn't a Kyle centric one.

This is awesome. It even has Liefeld's speed lines.
