SAINT SEIYA

I think we reach a point of "deconstruction" for lack of a better term that it's hard to tell a straightforward story. Everything these days need to be overcomplicated, self-aware and/or cynical. Saint Seiya is a very simple story at its core, saving the princess, but the modern retellings want to reinvent the wheel by modenizing the characters. See Seiya, a very straightforward shounen hero, but LoS turned him into an obnoxious Naruto clone and KotZ turned him into an obnoxious YA protagonist because he needed a "personality" that kids today could connect

I stopped watching the Netflix reboot to rewatch the original, will probably go back to the reboot now that I have time. Once moment I found funny when comparing the two was what happens when a Saint punches at a helicopter. In the original that helicopter explodes. In the reboot Seiya doesn't even make a dent and the helicopter just flies away, undamaged. Lol.

But by trying to modernize it they made it even more cliche, now Seiya is a street smart boy that skate boards and pic fights in the streets. That is way more cliche that the original idea.

The Netflix reboot made the green guy a girl to gain SJW points which was a massive miscalculation since everyone from fans that got pissed with the change to Tumblr who didn't like they removed the one non "toxic masculine" called his bullshit.

They show the original in Netflix but I'm not sure if that is exclusive to taco Netflix.

If I could I would shoot this guy twice in the place where his balls should be and then once in the head. At this point I'm 100% convinced that the laws regarding homicides are greatly exaggerated.

Marin still has a mask due to plot. Shaina has no mask or law about loving or killing someone who sees her face, she just gets obsessed with Seiya due to losing to him.

I'm seeing my favorite jap franchise go down in fucking flames in real time. You have no idea how painful this is.

After all the shit they've done to Saint Seiya, I'm desentivized
