Any character with occult, action movie cliche, or science fiction theme who is R rated/used to blood splatter fits in fine in MK
You zoomers don't even realize literally everything in MK was a rip off from some other piece of media, colorful ninjas were ripped directly from old school kung fu while Scorpion is literally Ghost Rider, cyber ninjas were just the Predator, Kano was "what if we took that shot from Terminator and made it a guy" Raiden was just those electricity sorcerers from Big Trouble in Little China, etc. If you're not over the age of 30, you don't get what the MK appeal was, which was just that it was a bunch of pop culture action movie cliches smashed together distastefully. People who grew up on Deception and Armageddon don't get it and view it like they do their epic animes or something.
