What was it? The good economy? 90s Country was just so damn upbeat. Lots of blues and rock n roll influence.
Modern country may as well be R&B for rednecks.

Rednecks don't listen to country. The primary demographic of country music is middle class white girls who own a truck, they live suburban but say they're rural
I'd like to know myself. 90s country gets more based the older I get and more beer I drink.
Can confirm for partially true. Rednecks listen to deathcore mallcore metalcore.
Can confirm 90s country was maximum comfy
This is actually a half-decent country song. It's a shame what most of Toby Keith's music ended up sounding like. Also, country was already well dead by the 90s.
Alt-Country is the only good country
childish opinion

Okay. I've lived in the South my entire life, and the kind of country music being played on the radio in the 90s was just as out of touch with the reality of life in rural America then as it is now, and was already largely based around the sound of pop music rather than Appalachian folk and bluegrass where country has its roots.
Country music as a whole was not better or worse in the 90s than any other time in history, it just happened to be a time when a lot of good shit rose to the mainstream. Right now the good shit isn’t mainstream.

Garth fucking sucks my guy
I mean this is true, but more local scene and indie musicians have continued to make great, even important music up and down the mountains
Anything produced by Dave Cobb
Sure. That's not really what this thread seems to be about judging by the OP picture, though.
