gimme you fav four (not thinking of lyrics cuz idk polish, dawg

>no Gintrowski
You can fuck right off, mate.

na bazie

Behemoth, Mgla, Furia, Gruzja, Batushka

why are Polish people so good at metal, bros?

I hope you'll still read this, here you go:
1. Henryk Górecki - Symphony of Sorrows
Somewhat famous. One of the most powerful classical pieces you'll find, incredibly beautiful and hard not to cry to actually. Each part (out of 3) is a song of sorrow, as the title says: first a lament of Mother Mary over Jesus's death from XV century, second was found in one of the Gestapo cells written on the wall, the last one is a Silesian folk song of a mother searching for her son killed by the Germans in the Silesian uprisings. Colin Stetson covered a whole piece and there is a one with Beth Gibbons on vocals, but take the one with London Sinfonietta or Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra.

2. Księżyc - Księżyc (1996).
Księzyc means "moon" and it is basically slavic, avant-folk version of Coil. Very dark, mystique, weird esoteric / witch-like songs.

3. Lenny Valentino - Uwaga! Jedzie tramwaj
Someone on RYM wrote it sounds like "OK Computer with a bit of that In The Aeroplane Over The Sea mojo" and I could agree, but add more slowcore / dream pop twist to it. This was a side project of a guy who was in a britpop band callec Myslovitz, also pretty neat.

4. Wacław Zimpel - Lines (2016)
Incredible tier post-minimalism, imagine marriage of Colin Stetson with Steve Reich

yes lad, I reckon you need to add a whole collumn for disco polo, the pinnacle of polish music

If you guys want some good Polish zoomer music, Schafter is one of the more interesting young rappers.

It's very vaporwave and cloud rap influenced (and r&b at times), but packaged in a more accessible form. He's done a number of collaborations with Taco Hemingway.

Also, his videos are great:

his EP was much better than the album

I agree, but I'm also glad that he's branching out and trying to change things up with the new album (even if it's more of a collection of disparate songs). Hoping this man continues to make new and exciting stuff moving forward.

Where do I find 90s disco polo (not the overly polished turds from the second wave)? I can't find any download sources of these bands. I know they were ultra popular and it seems crazy no one transferred them online. I can find select songs on youtube but not full albums. No torrents or obscure blogs. As an example, I'm looking for Fantastic Boys - W małej kapliczce, but it doesn't exist as far as I can tell.

>Fantastic Boys - W małej kapliczce
wow man, I have no idea and I am honestly surprised anyone is interested in that

you came down all the way to the deepest level of musical iceberg, brother

I actually found the album. It's on chomikuj website which is a very popular site for music and other warez stuff, although you have to pay some pennies for transfer.

I think I can use Audacity to record playback of the songs. That worked for me on Spotify. Thanks a lot, user! I hope they have the other albums I like. I can't read a word of it but I can tell what's what by context.
How is it so obscure? I read that these bands sold millions of cassettes in the 90s and even had a nationwide TV station playing the hits. I love how they're like italo disco but a bit simpler and cheaper sounding. More authentic, and they incorporate a lot of Polish musical themes into more western synthpop stuff. I don't even speak Polish, I don't know what the fuck they're saying, but I just can't get enough.

These are popular mostly in a rular areas now with lower class people, often played at village parties or weddings. For the urban / educated polish it is just cringe music and to be honest I also can't stand it (although I like italo disco sometimes, and stuff like synth pop, hi-nrg and so on). Lyrics are usually very simple love songs, nowadays often very sexualized.

Btw I'd recommend you Papa Dance, a really good synth-pop / new romantic band.

Replace The Satanist by Behemoth with The Lost of Mercy by Ghost.
No point in having repeating artists in a category with plenty to choose from.
Also Batoushka fuking suck Idd put Black Fury over them.
Looking forward to hearing some other albums on this chart user.

thanks I'll add that to my notes for the next version
also I think I'll fit Christ Agony somewhere

I really like this. Thanks, I'll be adding them too. How long would it take to learn Polish from scratch, user? I really want to learn it to understand the words and someday, visit Poland and hang out with rural people so we can talk about disco polo and get drunk.
>I also can't stand it
How can you not like this? It's so cool! My favorite disco polo song I've found.
youtube.com/watch?v=Mbm406I8-GU
This one is kinda disco-like.

And this one is really fun, I named my characters in RPGs Agnieszka now and I hope someday to marry a girl named Agnieszka. I just love the name and the music.

It's super difficult if you're not native to any other slavic language. Case system is a pain in the ass for most learners. Sorry user...

If you like name Agnieszka you should check out this pop rock tune which was a HUUUUGE hit in 90s. It reminds me of my childhood deeply, especially summertime while driving towards the Baltic sea with my parents,

youtube.com/watch?v=WbEENEHtayw

Hmm, I didn't know rock music existed there. It looks so modern. I like it, reminds me of my childhood too actually, since it might as well be some western pop song but in Polish. Also, why does this song sound so much more modern and better produced than the disco polo if they're from the same era? I'm guessing that it's because disco polo was rural and so it was made cheaper, right?
>Case system
Is that the noun thing like in Latin? Uh, well, I'll take it slow and steady. I'll buy a grammar textbook and just take it a day at a time and hopefully in a year or two I'll be ready for conversations and listening to music.
