alright in the last thread I referenced I was ripping some psy CDs and was gonna share some links. so Im having a few beers and gonna link a few bc I got nothing better to do. I doubt nothing you cant find on trackers or even soulseek, but if it helps people find some under-talked-about music on here then cool.
everything will be rips I did with EAC, unfortunately they're wavs and not flac, for reasons I needed, and I'll have to use dropbox instead of mega for reasons. I've only done about a quarter of them so far but maybe do the others in the future. I started by ripping some of my Ultimae Records classics. Since they're in black digipaks and pretty sought after I wanted to make good CDr's I could use to preserve my originals, hence these shares.

Carbon Based Lifeforms - Twentythree
>space ambient, psybient, acid, drone, ambient
Sample: youtube.com
Download: dropbox.com
Underrated album from a classic group. This record is a space ambient giant and ridiculously overlooked in the genre. Easily holds its own with everything from 70s Tangerine Dream to 90s FAX releases.
thanks, keep em comin
Blue Planet Corporation - Blue Planet
>goa trance, progressive psytrance
Sample: youtube.com
Download: dropbox.com
One of the greatest albums in trance history and also pretty sought after. Blue Planet Corporation project had its roots in the goa scene and released a series of EPs in the early/mid 90s, then released his lone album in 1999. You can still hear the dark and repetitive goa influence on some tracks like Micromega and Atoll, but this album also nearly single-handedly cemented the "progressive psytrance" sound that was fostered most notably in Scandinavia in the new millennium. French artist, but this was released on the British Flying Rhino label. A label that only put out a few LPs, but dominated when it came to remix EPs and compilations.
Koxbox - The Great Unknown
>psytrance, suomisaundi, breaks
Sample: youtube.com
Download: dropbox.com
This is the third album by Danish trance group Koxbox. They were an integral group in goa trance's emergence and had released some of the most unique and detailed tracks/albums in the middle part of the 90s. But many of this early generation of psychedelic trance artists started to move on to other styles by the late 90s and early 00s when they became disillusioned by the direction of the scene, feeling things were getting repetitive or cheesy, or just wanted to try something new. A lot of artists went the ambient/dub route, but Koxbox made things funky with their third album. Very unique and ahead of the curve. While it was hardly able to be closely imitated, it still was influential and changed the shape of cutting edge trance for the early 00s. Must hear classic: you'd never thought you'd like a trance album with a hentai cover this much.
so many chunes..
>suomisaundi
>by a Danish trance group
wut?
manaman hungry
Saiko-Pod - Phutures and Options
>psytrance, progressive psytrance, breaks, downtempo
Sample: youtube.com
Download: dropbox.com
Koxbox's The Great Unknown is definitely regarded as a classic album by trance fans, but a proportionately tiny few seem to know of their follow up spinoff project Saiko-Pod. In my opinion, this is even stronger than The Great Unknown. Where The Great Unknown was very similar to the Finnish trance sound (suomisaundi) Phutures & Options is more related to the Scandinavian progressive psytrance sound; finding good company with Solar Fields, Vibrasphere, Ticon, etc. The majority of the album is coasting, lucid, upbeat bangers hanging around that 135-140bpm range, but I just had to link this more downtempo song as the sample; phenomenal track.
it's just a tag, chill. In sharethreads I like to put out a wide net, it's more a functional thing, but
please dont underestimate Koxbox's influence though- listen to that album and their earlier works and try to tell me a lot of Finnish groups weren't listening to that. Idk if it's geography or what, but this group was influential to both Finnish and Swedish trance. Koxbox was highly regarded
