What the fuck man
Yas Forums hates rap not because they think it's shitty but because they actually hate black people
Yes, now go back to plebbit
How come I like soul funk and disco but hate rap then?
the entire civilized world hates black people and for good reason
(not true by the way)
i like rap but yeah i hate black people. ive never been asked for money on the street by someone who wasnt black.
It is, don't let them fool you into thinking they'd actually hold those beliefs.
stfu mutt
hip hop is aggressively black, whereas soul, funk, and disco are passive submission to what comforts white folk
>I like soul funk and disco
LMAO absolutely no one on Yas Forums has ever mentioned these genres in the past 11 years i've been here
go on, name 1 (one) album from these genres that isn't What's Going On, Songs in the Key of Life or Maggot Brain. I'll be waiting
based
I like Hot Buttered Soul
yes true
truth hurts?
Not the same person but I listened to Look Out for #1 by the Brothers Johnson recently and it was cool
yes,boycott it vehemently
Yas Forums fellates kanye. Either way rap is pretty shitty. I like it, but its hardly an artform. Its a shame too, because the simple beats and chanted vocals should lend themselves to incredible lyricism, however, what we get is just shitty songs about drugs, sex, and violence. Rhyming words with themselves is common for fucks sake. Rap always sucks live too. Been to lots of rap shows of legends and its always felt like I was standing in a room with a bunch of assholes watching some overcompensating asshat dance around while chanting over a 4/4 beat. Rap fucking sucks. Unless its Mike Patton rapping
>niggers
what the fuck man
I'm a white nationalist but I like some rappers.
(c)Rap ™
I'm a leftist, and don't dislike black people, but I hate rap because I don't like any music that's not derivative of guitar, bass, and drums.
more or less this
both
Are you retarded? Yas Forums blindly worships any rap regardless of how shitty it is. And rap is a pretty shit genre overall. How can anyone find it appealing to listen to amateur potery over copy pasted beats. This is coming from someone who loves artists like Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix and Duke Ellington
I don't really think the genres cater themselves to albums so I'll just list artists I like
George Clinton
Eddie Hazel
Bootsy Collins
James Brown
Sam Cooke
Sam and Dave
Isaac Hayes
Roy Ayers
Bobby Womack
The Meters
The Spinners
MJ
Giorgio Moroder
The Emotions
You happy faggot?
Yas Forums is one of the most leftshit boards on this site and isn't racist. theyre definitely intellectually bigoted like most of the far left, but they don't hate black people.
that said, i think rap is great, i just think most conscious rap is retarded
>can appreciate guitar, drums and bass but cant appreciate rap with a multilayered high/low melody
No I can appreciate some rap music, but only the rap music that uses or samples real instrumentations, or maybe rap that uses electronics, but it's "spooky" or "dark" sounding, I kind've like that, but I won't ever go out of my way to listen to it on my own. I absolutely hate mainstream rap music
It's both. It's shit because it's made by them, and they themselves would still be shit for a plethora of other reasons if they hadn't created rap anyway.
most rap music you know was mainstream at some point
it's just that 2010s rap was garbage
I'm not a huge fan of rap. I'm willing to try anything recommended to me by friends, but I'm not gonna act like I can relate to trying to be a "gangsta" or grow up in the ghetto or around gang life. That's not something I feel any pleasure listening to. However, if there is experimental hip hop or just good lyrics telling a deep story (How Much A Dollar Cost by Kendrick is a good example), then I usually like it. Otherwise, it's usually drunk party music played by my fellow white suburbanites.
I'm much more fascinated with the production and beats of hip hop/rap than any lyricism plastered on. If a rapper doesn't actually produce beats and just buys it to babble a bunch of shit over it, I don't think they are a true artist. Same goes for pop stars.
