I'm working my way through DragonForce's discography. I've heard a bit of each album and most albums start to finish. There is literally not one bad album in their catalogue. And what's more, each album is a masterpiece on its own, if you put it in another band's discography it would be their masterpiece. DragonForce just keeps cranking out the 10s. You know how some bands have a rough start, releasing one or two clunker albums before getting good, or release some great albums then jump the shark and go off the deep end? Well, no such problems here. If anything I can say DragonForce improves consistently with each release, pounding out intense shredder after shredder. The band mutates and evolves with each release, but their style somehow remains consistent, as does their quality. I love DragonForce.
True
Do it. Please.

shitposts aside, That is a really good album.
Kapala is a better dot head war metal band better IMO
Witchfinder General, Trouble, Saint Vitus, Running Wild, Attacker, Cirith Ungol, Praying Mantis, Quartz, Montrose, Ted Nugent, Nazareth, and Blue Öyster Cult.
Are any of these van rock?
I approached this album with a lot of skepticism, but it turned out to be damn awesome. All balls to the wall and extremely fast.
Who are the big 4 of grindcore?
Witchfinder General, Trouble, Saint Vitus, Cirith Ungol I'd label as pure Doom Metal and/or Epic/Power Metal in CU's and Attacker's case.
When I'm thinking about "van rock" (which is just a meme phrase I'm using that doesn't really mean anything concrete at all) I'm thinking something that is not necessarily /metal/ related but rather /metal/ 'adjacent' and still rooted in traditional rock and roll, blues/hard rock, progressive rock, folk rock, or psychedelic rock; but simultaneously reaching into "heavy metal" music or even being "heavy metal" bands themselves.
Considering the others especially BOC, the Quartz 1977 debut album.
Anyone have good recommendations for stuff similar to epic era Bathory? (Blood Fire Death, Hammerheart and Twilight of the Gods).
No extremely polished production and should have epic chanting + catchy riffing.
Fuck anus.com and fuck /metal/
Would Fly By Night fit under that?
Unironically, Manowar. It was Quorthon's main inspiration during that time.
Yes. I'd say Caress of Steel and even 2112 also.
I remember going to a Saint Vitus concert n seeing Wino emerge from between 3 vans. One with a wolf and moon painting, one with a wizard, and a brown one with pinstripes. And I thought, "Of course he was hanging out back there."
