They position themselves as anti heroes, heralds of a dark punishing force that is "The Dark Carnival" that is out to violently punish "evil" people. This is a meta narrative, and is not always the topic of their own music though, which is where it might get TRICKY for smoothbrains to follow, because not all of their songs are within this "Dark Carnival" narrative in which it just becomes a branding for their entire ethos, sometimes it's strictly a comedy song or a "real life" or a story telling song where they are playing different characters unrelated to the Dark Carnival storyline.
