Hill is definitely my favorite. Compulsion might also be my favorite album of all time.

Andrew Hill is fantastic, but my all time favorite will forever be McCoy Tyner.

i like Chick Corea

Hill is great. This might not be my favorite, but trio isn't usually his setting.

Some time ago there was a jazz pianist posted on here, I listened to him for a little bit and I recall he was great, but can't remember anything about him. All I know is that he was black and a bit autistic/shy or at least that's what they said about him at the time. Who was it Yas Forums?

thelonious monk

is it this guy? skip to 0:46 for the playing

nah it was more recent, I know about monk

I like Jobim a lot because he’s not flashy, but his playing adds a lot to a song

Also no, he was playing for quite a big audience iirc

based, sounds good user

>Who's your favorite pianist?
Craig Taborn!
>Their best album?
Light Made Lighter if you're talking him as a leader, though I really like his playing on Graylen Epicenter.

I've been listening to a bunch of Jon Stickley Trio, primarily because Lyndsay Pruett is a fantastic violinist. There's definitely an interesting enough intersect between jazz and bluegrass, I find.

jazz that's almost too funky?

He's not my favorite and I don't know if he's even lesser known at this point because criss cross gets spammed a lot but David kikoski is great.

Since I'm sure everyone else will post Monk, Hancock, Bill Evans, etc.

>Who's your favorite pianist?

I've been listening to a lot of Ryo Fukui recently. Anything similar to his style?

Attached: RyoFukui.jpg (350x350, 40.46K)

Yeah buddy that's the best boy yeyeyeyeyeye fuck your ryo fukui 2nd grade asleep in a coffee lounge bullshit gymnopedie no.1 my guy

Fukui is a pale imitation of Bill Evans (with a few dashes of Chick Corea for good measure)

Whilst I like Bill Evans, I find Fukui is more accessible. Any more "entry level" albums or performers like Fukui? Haven't listened to Corea but I know he did some more involved electronic stuff with his jazz

Does Kapustin count as jazz? If so then probably him.

Ahmad Jamal

Try some Oscar Peterson, We Get Requests is pretty accessible.

>Ahmad Jamal
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check him out
