Why is pop (female) held to such low standards compared to virtually every other genre in music?
Take fantano for example, even when talking about something as low effort and superficial as trap hell analyse everything up to intent of the track, then someone like charli says something slutty (without even good vocals) over a beat someone else produced and he gives it AOTY
Theyre performers not musicians, I dont hate them and I get it, but I wish wed stop talking about it in the same regard as actual music
Dylan Martin
fantano has always liked trash. he keeps up the facade (barely) by throwing out a bad review of the occasional trap album every so often. But if you've watched him long enough, you know his tastes, and he'll value mindless catchy normalfag shit over actual substance every time.
Andrew Anderson
>says i'm wrong >gives no arguments >posts some shitty album cover
William Clark
he rates an album based on how much likes it. his scores arent objective truths, its just a measure of his enjoyment on the music. how is this hard to understand? why do you care so much about some guys numbers? you guys are retarded.
Benjamin Wilson
why on earth do people even watch him
Logan Reyes
Classical music is so evidently superior to all other kinds of music, yet we keep lowering the standards when we talk about other types of music, to avoid the uncomfortable situation where the butt rock dude or the druggy EDM boy gets anal pained when they are told the great masters are better than their shitty hedonistic hero.
Instead of white guilt, in the music world there is "classical" guilt. We keep lowering the standards for other kinds of music to compensate and preserve our dream of marxist culturalism. Of perfect musical relativism. Guess what? It isn't true and the compositional talent and imagination displayed, which is all that counts in the end when we have to say what is worth being saved and what not, is infinitely superior in classical music than in any other form of music.
If your shitty pop muzak is an 8 what the fuck are Beethoven's late string quartets? a 400? most music is barely a 1 to 3, the Beatles fall in here and so do most other popular music with very few exceptions that reach a 4, even a 5. Bartok string quartets would be a 6, 2 degrees of magnitude higher you have works by Brahms and other great masters. Then 9 and 10 are reserved for the highest achievements of human race like Beethoven's late string quartets or his Missa Solemnis or Mass in B minor by Bach or his Brandenburg Concertos.
He grew out of his anti-pop phase. Most people do once they mature.
Dominic Ward
> uncultured swine with no taste thinks his opinions mean anything The album is a clear example of why you are wrong.
Xavier Thompson
> very few exceptions that reach a 4, even a 5 such as?
Elijah Bell
His content is well structured and his views are understandable. You don't have to agree with him, but he's been good for spreading the music community's reach. Based in my book,
Michael Hall
Yes - Relayer Van der Graaf Generator - Pawn Hearts Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Brain Salad Surgery

I'm like 80% there with you on this. I think it's less about Marxist Culturalism or any other Ism and more to do with not wanting to be negative. It sucks when you rag on too much stuff, it makes you look like a bitter boomer asshole. To the normie audience, these overreactions keep Fantano from looking like a downer snob.
Poptimism is fucking annoying though and I agree that there's a progressive component to it
Lincoln Carter
>Bartok string quartets would be a 6 did some positive rating scale RYM retard make this pasta? what the fuck?
John Perez
2/10 needs more drum solos
Hudson Cox
>classicalfag gives opinions on which pop albums he enjoys >its just gay generic boomerrock and prog Every time.
Jonathan Brooks
nigger the best thing that has come out of classical music is Caroline crying while playing Chopin in the album DOOPEE TIME
Jose Thomas
Hannah Diamond > Schoenberg Crystal Castles > Vivaldi Ariel Pink > Bach Julia Holter > Kate Bush > ALL I don't make the rules
Daniel Wright
Based as hell
Adrian Peterson
I wish he didn't make this review. I like Charli XCX but this album wasn't 9/10 good, in fact I thought it felt a little flat compared to Vroom Vroom and the two mixtape "albums." Now people just hate on her because Fantano praised her.
Jacob Thomas
fell a little flat, probably
Andrew Morris
Reminder that Shake It made it into Scaruffi's 2019 playlist.
Luis Campbell
What's your point? Is he supposed to feel bad about this?
Mason Morris
Ah, another classical fag. What you don’t understand is that music is subjective. Just because something is a lot harder to make and requires a lot more intelligence doesn’t mean that it’s better to listen to.
Easton Price
Fuck you retard poser, you are not superior because you don't actually enjoy music, grow up
Christian Walker
this. but lets not lie, so do we all. disagree. t. straight-ish man
>its not as good as classical.
agreed. but its not meant to be, it has a different job. to misquote someone "if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." Pop music is a fish. stop judging it on something its not trying to do.
Matthew Bailey
But that's wrong though. The culture around classics music is the problem. Music should move you, literally and figuratively. It's not something you need to study to enjoy. Music has always reflected different cultures, that's what's so great about it. I love classical music, but I'd much rather go to a rock concert than to see the orchestra.
Ryan James
>Then 9 and 10 are reserved for the highest achievements of human race like Pop 2 by Charli XCX or Mass in B minor by Bach or his Brandenburg Concertos. There, I took out the meme composer and now it's correct.
Evan Harris
>stop expecting better from art No. You seethe instead.
Logan Brown
lol like you arent the seething idiot who wants to play superior because you can google top 10 classical composers.
